1. According to the book Setting The Pace Oldsmobile's First 100 Years It list production of 4,903 '65 98 converts. Henry
 2. I'm looking for information/pictures/specs/parts for creating a replica '67 Delmont 88 425 police package car such as used in Ca. and other states (Mo? and Fla?). I have very little info to start with and I need more knowledge to procede with my project. I do have a '67 Delmont 88 425 4dr post to base it on. Thanks to anyone that can provide any factual information. Henry
 3. 70 and 71-72 bumpers are quite different where the grilles match up. The '70 bumper is taller due to the short grill design. In '71-'72 the car has taller grilles which makes the bumper shorter. The only contour the same for both 70 and 71-72 front bumpers would be where it fits to the front fenders. Henry.
 4. I checked my '65 Skylark Gran Sport shop manual and it list the wheel size as 14" X 6". Henry

 8. They are the same in any '66-'72 GM "A" body car, Chevrolet Chevelles, Monte Carlos, Pontiac Lemans, Buick Skylarks and '69-'72 Pontiac Grand Prixs. Being a higher price personal sports/luxury car you'll find a large number of Grand Prixs with a drive side power bucket seat. Henry
 9. You will also find you need the seat track mounting bracket that is spot welded to the floor. Cut one out of a parts car or the restoration parts sellers do offer a reproduction replacment. Henry.
 10. Over the past few years I've purchased 1,000s of $s of parts from Yearone, however the last 3 times I've called them I had to wait on hold for 16, 12 and 23 minutes(yes I did time it) to talk to a sales rep. Prices do start out a bit high however they offer frequent discounts, also quanity discounts so that knocks final price down. Car club membership can offer you discounts also, I belong to South Texas Oldsmobile Club, chapter of OCA and there's a discount available through that. They do go to extremes to satisfy complaints. Also have good results from Supercars Unlimited, an Olds supplier in Oregon. Henry
 11. You can make a drive belt by cutting a cross section out of a bike inner tube. Henry

 19. According to my 41st edition of the Hollander Interchange manual the flywheel is listed as Hollander #268 which includes '64-'67 LeSabre Buick Special '64-'65 8-300 Buick Special '66-'67 8-300, 8-340. All with standard transmission. Henry
 20. Buick never offered them for the '65 Special/Skylark series but in the era when the car was new Foxcraft offered them for each new model years of cars.
Henry.
 21. Hi, I have a '71 and a '75 Delta 4drs I checked out and here's what I see:
Front clip will bolt on, the front frame section will accept the earlier bumper without problem. All of the later Olds bumper shocks simply bolts to the earlier frame rails. Unbolt later model bumper mounting system from the frame and you are left with the earlier bumper mounting holes in frame.
Rear changes are more involved although the trunk lid meaures exactly the same width and length between the '71 and '75. The trunk lid outer skin seems to be the same. Completly remove the newer bumper mounting system and the earlier bumper will bolt to the frame. There's trim/filler panel pieces under the '75 trunk lid that will need to be remove.
Body alterations will be needed on the lower quarter panel for the '72 rear bumper lines to match. '75 is sharp angle, '71 is gracful arching curve.
The newer car taillight and extention housing is longer than the '72. Measured both quarter panels and the '71 quarter is longer than the '75 but when the taillight housing is included they wind up the same length. All this can be over come by using the last few inches of the '72 quarter panel, grafting it on the end of the '75.
Dash: the cowl and windshield and doors are the same so I'd think they trade out but seeing how it was 98 degrees here yesterday and about 130 degrees inside these cars I did not look! (I did crawl under front and rear of both cars to get good look at frame section/ bumper mounting system though)
My conclusion: its close enough to do with minor body work on the ends of the rear quarters.
Feel free to ask questions and try I'll to assist, and I'd like to ask one myself, whats the point of this conversion?
Henry
[ 08-14-2002: Message edited by: 66400 ]
[ 08-14-2002: Message edited by: 66400 ]
