  1. Snoopdady, I have a box full of pushrod springs and inner valve springs. They are not marked and are similar in size. Send me the measurements of your springs and I will see what I have. I need the height and outside diameter. Contact me at fred.rawling@live.com
  2. Here is my 2 cents worth. 1923 model 45 takes a 32 x 4 rim and 1924 model 47 take a 32 x 4 1/2 rim per the 2005 BCA judging manuel and my 1935 Kelsey-Hayes wheel catalogue. It is possible to put a 32 x 4 1/2 tire on a 32 x 4 rim and visa versa. Double the smaller number and subtract it from the large number to get the rim size 32 x 4 is [32 - (4 + 4) = 24]. 32 x 4.5 is [32 - (4.5 + 4.5) = 23 inch] rim The 24 inches or 23 inches is the outside diameter of the rim where the tire bead touches the flat outside part of the rim, not the overall diameter of the rim. The overall diameter of the rim is usually around 1 1/2 inches greater than the rim size. It can vary. The width of the rim when you measure across the rim at the widest part is usually around 3 1/2 inches on the small series cars and 4 1/2 inches on the larger series cars. This does not always apply. There can be exceptions. A quick way to get the rim size is measure the inside diameter of the rim, add 1/2 inch and round up the the next inch.

  4. For the last 37 years, I sold real estate. Any time that there was a house that had to be fumigated to kill the termites, which had a vacant garage, I asked for permission to leave one of my cars in it during the fumigation. Worked good. Contact your favorite realtor. Maybe they can help you out. The last time I checked, many years ago, it cost $300.00 to have the termite company throw a tarp over it in their yard and fumigate it. 5. The aluminum belt molding is nailed to the wood frame with nails that were countersunk and filled in with body putty. This is a case of "if it's not broken, don't fix it" I have never removed any of this molding but the molding that I have seen off cars looks like it was pried off the car. If you are replacing bad wood, try removing the wood from the inside.
  6. Buickfarmer, There are no wood kits for these Buicks. You have to copy the wood that you have in the car of look at another car to get measurements. You did not mention the tail light, if it has side mounts, and if the headlights and gauges are there. What about hubcaps for the wire wheels? With parts missing and not running, I would say around $750. to $1,000.00.

  20. Sometimes you find that the body on the larger series car is wider. Ask the supplier for measurements. Another idea would to be to ask a local upholsterer the cost to do the seats and also ask what he would charge to make adjustments in the covers in the kit should it be the wrong size.
  21. How old is the diaphram in your fuel pump? If it is old, the new gasoline may have weekened it so it is not as efficient. Also, the valves in the pump come with the rebuild kit. My answer was going to be the same as Mark's. Choke it till it fires and then push the choke almost all the way in until it warms up.
  22. It sounds as if you are putting the gasket in with the oil cooler on the car. If so, that may be part of the problem. On my 1935, I can bolt the oil cooler on with it assembled. Be sure that the flanges are straight. Clamping the flange between the jaws of a big vice is one way to straighten out any dips and waves.
  23. I would just leave it out and if it runs good, I would not bother pluging the opening. On my 1928, when I rebuilt the engine, I took the flapper out of the exhaust manifold valve. My flapper on the carburetor was already missing. So far, so good.
  24. In an article from Antique Auto Magazine, March/April 1971, the Author, David Chambers cites a study by a major spark plug company where they found that a .040 gap gave the best performance though with a little rough ilde. I have gaped my plugs on my 27 standard and 28 master at .040 and am happy with the results. The 28 has over 47,000 miles on it since I got it. The plugs are a nice toasty brown. Fred
  25. Standard and Master visors are different lengths. I have one for a Master that is off my car. About a year and a half ago, I had a copy made for someone. The price was somewhere around $45.00. It may be different now. If you are interested, let me know on the email link below. I think that I have one for a 28 Standard somewhere around here. Fred fred.rawling@live.com
