  1. I made studs. Take a 9/16=18 set screw ans turn it to 1/2inch and cut the proper (20)threads. then you can use regular wheel nuts.
  2. There were not enough passengers to fill the bus, so we are meeting at Capitol Coney Island at 7:30 Saturday morning. We will leave at 8:30 ,car pooling to the Heritage Center.
  3. Did you get it capped off, or is it still blowing?
  4. Roberta Does your answer mean Yes there are restrictions or yes you can take pictures?? PS I love to pick on you but you don't give me too many openings
  5. Pontiac also had left hand threads . What is the bolt circle? Pontiac had a 5 inch and I think the Mopars had different dimensions
  6. Pete The 31 had a 2 piece bumper, and the 32 had the bumper shown. The picture is too washed out to show the "B" on the hubcaps, but it almost looks like the rounded "B" from the 31, so it is really tough to tell. Ireally don't think it a victoria coupe as they had larger rear quarter windows.
  7. I think it is a 1932 model 56S or 66
  8. It sounds like you and Jack have a great tour planned. Hopefully you will also have a tour after the 2008 meet as I am already committed to the BDE after tour this year. If you need any help on the 2008 , please let me know as your "hub tour" planning fits into my schedule next year perfectly.
  9. I already have my room, and hope to see everyone there
  10. The high nickel content is in the Cast iron of the block. the after market valves will be OK
  11. Lamar Your idea is great! I would like to meet all the forum members I have chatted with over the "net"
  12. I change the oil, pull the car into its parking ares , pull the air cleaner ,and pour cheap oil down the carb throat while increaseing the RPM. When I have a huge cloud of smoke bellowing from the exhaust, I shut the engine off and wait for spring.
  13. I would think that if there is a real desire to be part of the BCA , they could petition to be a division just as the Reatta club the BDE and the BMD. They all have their own rules and are members of the BCA, and are not judged by the BCA judges.
  14. I had quite a few trophis left over from my drag racing days, and I gave them out for Halloween to the kids that wanted them instead of candy. ( This was back before thecrazies ruined Halloween with the razor blades in food) I then gave the rest to a friend that was involved in Boy Scouting, and they relabelled them and gave them out .
  15. I can't help you with the window or rubber problems, but a 57 Chevy electric wiper motor is a direct bolt in
  16. The obvious upgrades are : 2X4 intake that was available for that engine a mild cam that has an increase in lift, but not too much duration . This will still get decent economy, and give a boost through the whole RPM range a less restrictive exhaust system (not necessarily headers,) mandrel bent pipes, and some better flowing mufflers
  17. I don't think Buick ever built a 425 with a 2 BBL carb. Are you sure your engine is a 425??
  18. Plugs last longer than that ! I have 150,000 miles on my 91 Park Avenue and it still has the original plugs in it. I am afraid to change them now as it will probably strip the threads. I found that running 5 gallons of kerosene with 15 gallons of gas in my 32 Buick 90 series worked very well. It helped trmendously in correcting a tendency to vapor lock. I hauled a 17 foot 1935 travel trailer all over the country back in the 70s, and going across the desert I don't think I could have done it on straight gasoline
  19. I would almost think your best bet would be to get one with an automatic, and swap the stick set up from one of the rusty ones.
  20. The first car I drove was my Dad's 29 Buick 4 door. That was 1948 and I was 14 years old. I got my license then and bought a 1931 Buick 4 door, and have been hooked on Buicks ever since.
  21. I learned to drive on a 29 Buick! Mechanical brakes and a floor shifted 3 speed that had bad syncros. I did not have a Ford that could have the shifter switched, but I had a 40 Chev , and the shifter was held at the top with a pin. I got an extra shift lever and welded it to the original and reinstalled it, That gave me a left hand lever for dating, and a 2 handed set up for overcoming the slow vacuum when you were racing.
  22. Are the lifters lashed properly? It may well be that they were lashed like they were solid lifters, because it is in a 48 and they did not have hydraulic lifters. . My 263 has MANY miles on it and is very quiet.
  23. Zondac12 I have owned my 40 super since 1972,and did the engine in 1976. Since then I have driven it over 100,000 miles and have not done anything except normal maintenance. I had a 3.9 rear end in it until 1995 and then installed a 3.4. That made a whole new car out of it. I also installed roadmaster brakes as it needed extra stopping ability.
