1. Hey, we were both out touring the Hershey country side yesterday and even took in a show to boot. Where were you???? Macungie is up in the air just yet, but planning on the Soda Jerk after 4. The AA cover shot is great and not a single person here ever mentioned you by name. Now did we?
2. Even with it being you know who's brand of car, they can make this the official cover of the AA Magazine as far as I'm concerned. Awesome!!
3. Bob, Should be 1948 thru 1952, but I'm not 100%. Use to service two '48's and one '52 Roadmasters and all three had that cover. That's the best I can do for you. Rick
4. Scott, Yes it is and I'd go as far as sticking to the brand of oil that the previous owner used.
5. Purely aftermarket lenses from the 60's and 70's as I remember them. I may still have some left in my collection. And even without you saying which brand of tires are on there, I'll bet they are Goodyear's. Goodyears 19" diamond treads were made in Chile some 30 to 40 years ago.
6. Jake, The number 3620 is it's model number and that makes it a Ambassador 6 cylinder. The 8 cylinder would have been a Model 3680. Serial numbers for the car you're looking at should range from R303301 to R309310 and were located on the right front frame under the hood. I hope this helped.
7. Ron, The spare tire does NOT need to match the tires on the car itself. Just make sure it's a tire size that came through on the car originally. As for the 165R15 radial tires ~ As long as the judges abide by the judging rules, they should not be asking for documentation for those tires. The rules state that European cars had metric size radials in 1967 and possibly eariler. Therefore, I can't see any reason they should question you on a 1970 vehicle. However?
8. DW, If you wanted a AACA sign, you should have said something. I wouldn't have bought you one, but you still could have said something.
9. Fran, What's being done here by Choc, is he's giving me the business for being parked in the Senior Class while they put him down in the, as he calls it, the general working class population. I'm just being given a hard time, that's all. Steve, I didn't see him carrying a AACA sign away either. We need to work on him about that!
10. For the last time Dougy, it was called the Senior Car Class, not the Trailered Car Class! And Steve, you know darn well what he was trying to get started here. Things were going so smoothly on his thread until you posted. A Trophy Hound?
11. West, This is a 1948. The dead give away is the large vertical grille center and the Chevrolet hood emblem. About the only major changes within those three years were the grilles and emblem.
12. For Sale: 1946 Whizzer Model H Serial # 00008 Color: Green Older Restoration in excellent condition. AACA Senior Award winner $6.000.00 Photos on request via e-mail Contact Rick Hoover Middletown, PA. (near Hershey) 717-944-0656 weekdays rahoover@att.net
13. Ron, No doubt, we're losing quality tranny shops around here that dealt with the olders cars. Lupfers has done plenty of work for me over the years, but you could sense some years back, George prefered doing only moderen work and faster jobs. Can't say I blame him. Another one was a old family friend of ours who we loss a few years back. Doc worked at the GM transmission rebuild center when they operated in Camp Hill back in the 50's and 60's. He did all my Buick dynaflow work. Luckly, we still have another fellow here in the area that is top knotch with these old Chryslers and I gave Steve his name.
14. Now that's what I call a Kodak Moment Steve! I've seen that pose many times before, but it's always from picking up a penny somebody dropped in a flea market, and never, never from cleaning a white wall tire! Heck, I didn't know he even knew how to do that!
15. Now that has to be the best one I've seen on here in a long time Hal!
16. Maybe it's Mr. Moskowitz's way of saying we had so much fun being off of work yesterday, let's do it again today? Is this club great or what?
17. Stan, I highly doubt the glass shop I use will do it in the car and especially if it's a antique show car. I'll ask Sam and let you know. Meanwhile, call this number in Bird-In-Hand. 394-9263 Ask for Rick and tell him that I sent you. That will be even closer for you.
18. I couldn't agree with Ron more. For the cost, mess and possible damage you could do, in never having polished glass before, I'd take it to a glass shop and let them handle the job. Distortion and even over heating the glass to the point where it cracks is very easy with being inexperienced. As long as I've polished glass, it still makes me nervous to this day. The compound used mostly is called Rhodite. It also requires using a special applicator buffing pad. Good luck!
19. We're not saying the car was being "torn" apart on here. I can somewhat understand your trying to help a guy out with what you saw as a problem on his car there at the show, but I don't agree with naming the car and saying where the car was being shown at, here on a open forum. Then for Dave to post a picture of the mans car was taking it too far. From what you said, the man obviously didn't want to discuss the situation there at the show, so I highly doubt he'd care to see it being discussed openly here with the rest of the world. Simply mentioning a situation you ran across without naming the car would have been fine. I just saw this as being a little disrespectful to a fellow member, that's all.
20. MCHinson, I read this the other day and I'll admit I failed to see the humor in it. What part of picking out a flaw in another AACA members car and then posting a picture of it was funny? Would it be funny if some strangers did it to you? I would think not. No, I agree with Dan. This should not have been posted on this AACA forum and I'm glad to see Dave removed the picture.
21. Yes, those are the dates.
22. Very interesting. Looks like I need to quit using the McMaster website and go back to using their book.
23. Try contacting Apex Precision in Indiana at 317-821-1000 and ask for Louise. Look at the nuts under standard products on their website. www.apexprecision.com I believe they will sell direct, but not sure, as I've been meaning to contact them myself. I use to get mine through Retmay Dist. and MSC and they now only offer the push in style. Wouldn't mind hearing back what you find out.

Thanks Steve and even more so for opening that door for him. BTW Steve ~ Famous for what? No, never mind!
