  2. Recently located a windshield post spotlight with the name Packard Motor car Co., Chicago, Ill. Name on rear knob, DRIVERS De LIGHT. Rim is steel with nickle or chrome.Main body is steel, and some of the brackets are brass. Reflector is in v.g. condition can't see any splitting. Believe from late teens or early 20's. Any help to identify era, appreciated. Jim Schilf palbuick
  3. Hi Mike Yes there was an Apallo GSX, 1974, Only two colors, White with a red stripe and red with a white stripe, down the side. Basically a dressed up apollo, V8 (350) or 6 cyl. Bucket seats, Decals GSX on front header and trunk. Not too many around, nice ones are rare. I have a nice original flyer on the GSX, but scanner not working. Jim Schilf palbuick
  4. I would send back to Kanter. About 8 years ago I had the Drums on the rear of my 70 Wildcat replaced, by my local mechanic. First ride on Hwy at 55 noticed a vibration from rear. I took back the car and found that the drums were from Mexico, and out of round, repalced with USA drums and vibration was gone. If they are going to sell junk let them correct problem. 5. Firts thing is to locate the dual carb manifold. This will give you the split manifold for the dual exhaust system. A straight eight with dual exhaust really sounds great. There is a dual exhaust page on Buicks around here somewhere. Jim Schilf palbuick
  6. I do believe that there is a large locking ring that holds the big seal in place. In your shop manual there is instructions on tighting the torque ball and the amount of pressure. If bolts are too tight the ball unit will not move, too loose and the unit will leak. Jim Schilf palbuick

  10. I agree with 1937hd45. I have been buying and selling Buick parts for over 35 years. I would attend and sell parts at 10 to 15 swap meets a year. In the last 4 years I only sell at 2 swap meets and they are in my neck of the woods. No more traveling a couple of hundred miles, expensive motels, bad food, high price of gas. I just sit at home in front of this screen, warm in winter, cool in summer, wife calls me for dinner. I get more time to play with my cars. I do attend several swapmeets only to buy supplies and some tools. If you haven't noticed the NOS parts, any make of vehicle, are RARE at any swap meet. No more "would you take a dollar". I don't mind packing, making boxes to fit part, a short drivre to post office of other shippers. \ The only problem with on line auctions is the scammers, over charging on shipping, and junk parts. If you ask questions an honest seller will answer, no answer buyer be ware. I have bought more NOS parts on e-bay than I have found in the last couple of years. Just use your brain when bidding, and don''t get carried away with the bidding. E-Bay used to great, now its called evil-bay. JIm Schilf palbuick
  11. Hi Any Buick rim to 1956 willl fit, mabye later rims will work. Should be a lot easier to locate than a 40 rims. These would be 15 in rims, tires should be easy to find. Jim Schilf palbuick

  14. The last one I had, I sold at a swap meet, about 4 years ago. This was an original one and sounded great. Every once and while one will pop up. These were all over in the 50's, especially at the drive inn's when 4-5 cars would start dinging away. Jim SChilf palbuick
  15. Hi John Well I am coming to your rescue again. I have a new Delco Remy Lighting relay, 6 v. part # 1116789, this is used to boost voltage to the 6V headlights. Believe this was a popular item in the late 30's. Drop me a line and we wil talk. Jim Schlf palbuick
  16. Hi I have a NEW NOS original one sitting next to the computer, I was just about to list it on Ebay. Send me your e-mail address and i can send you a picture of it Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  17. There are a few books around that cover only one year, scarce and expensive. The books you have should cover your 62 very good. You should know your series, and series designation. Series will be 4000, 4100,4300. body designation will be 2 dr, 4dr, convt. station wagon. All this information shound be in the front of the book. Jim Schilf
  18. What years are the parts books? If they are 1962 to 1965, there should be illustrations of your car. First get the Group number of the part you are interested in, go to that group and look up your part number, in that group there should be other listings of the same related part, in the right side column that is your part number. Slide down this colunm and look for the same part number. if you find the same numer it will fit your car. It has taken me and a lot of others many years to learn how to identify parts. So be patient. In the front of the book is a guide to the different groups. Jim Schilf palbuick
  19. If you are not palnnig a show car , but a good looking driver why no consider a Macco paint job. If you remove the trim, bumpers, you can get an excellent paint job for under $500. I have had several drivers painted by Macco, and after a light wet sanding, and buffing. You couldn't tell it was a Macco paint job. The more prep work you can do the better the paint job will be. 20. I have 20 copies of the National Geographic magazine from 1921 through 1929. All the covers are missing but rest of magazine is in good condition. Many auto ads and other advertisements. Asking $ 10.00 plus shipping for all. For those who collect ads these are great. Jim Schlf palbuick
  21. Have you checked your shop manual, usually in back sections there is accessorie wiring section. Jim Schlf palbuick
  22. Go with the striping tape. I have had some on a rocker panel for 6 years and they have not come off. Just make sure that you have the correct width, and the area that you are applying to is very clean. Jim Schilf palbuick
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 56 have two styles of gages. Some time back I had some NOS gages for the 56. I will have to check to see if I still have any. Jim Schilf palbuick
