  1. Here is your chance to keep the old cars old. There is a 1927 original Essex on E-BAY with only 6000 miles on it. Even the top is in good condition! Now is the time to show the "orange crowd" that you are willing to spend the money necessary to keep this one original. Go to E-BAY and search for item # 4636902163 Ps, I bet the "orange crowd" will get this one. (be on the look out for a low mileage motor and spoke wheels next on E-BAY.)
  2. You better watch out Barry, I thought I seen your wife in the RV showroom checking out a large sofa and new kitchen cabinets and a white carpet! I wonder what she is planning to do with them?
  3. From a car show this past year? 1BAD37 IMREADY AWSOM57 FSTHEMI G8DUCE
  4. At the proud (and stupid) age of 19, I owned a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker. As I was sure that it was the best car ever built, I decided to see what would happen if I put it into reverse at 45 MPH. To my amazement, the rear wheels simply went backwards! I couldn?t even think about doing that trick with any car nowadays.
  5. Barry, another alternate to cover the inside is to use translucent fiberglass roofing, used for roofs in truck bodies and inside of reefer trucks. It comes 8' 6" wide and in lengths as long as you want. (But it takes 14 men and two boys to install it in one piece to a celing!) The price is right though, about $1.20 per sq ft. I have just used it to cover the roof on my 31 Essex. It has a small ?pebble? finish and looks like a fabric covering, and is flexible enough to show the roof bows like the original fabric roofing. I bonded it on and applied a decorative welting on the edge. Roger
  6. TAKE THE CACHE RIVER SOUTH TO THE WHITE RIVER AND CONNECT UP WITH THE MISS. AND THEN GRAB ONE GOING WEST.
  7. Motor Honey is a brand of oil treatment like "Gunk Motor Medic" There are a lot of brands. It is very useful if the motor has a slight kock to it. Gruranteed to make your motor run quietly. (at least until it throws a rod)
  8. I had bought a truck that had been sitting for a few years, and when I started it it smoked up the entire area. The junkyard next door even complained! I put in two bottles of a very thick "motor Honey into it and ran it for 3 hours at fast idle. It never stopped smoking. The next day I started it to bring it back to the dealer that I had bought it from and it blew out one puff of smoke and never smoked again, and I have had it for 15 years since.
  9. When buying an air compressor, beware of the cheapies that claim 5 hp on 110v. They rate them at max hp just before they blow up! Air compressors are the one thing that you get exactly what you pay for! Check for rated duty cycle, 100% is best although you shouldn?t run them that much. Also find out the consumption of the tools that you will be using and rate your compressor accordingly. The size of the tank and the max. pressure are not a good way to rate it, you must go buy CFM output v/s your consumption rate. Consider a good used commercial one from a company that just sells and repairs compressors. You will pay more than a new cheapie, but you will get a much better deal. Generally speaking, the lower the speed of the compressor, the better it is.
  10. http://www.brakecylinder.com/GusWilson/ Happy Reading!
  11. The dragster is known as the Strokers Dragster from Springfield Ma. 392 blown injected Chysler. If yours ran in 1959, 1960 or 1961 in New England, we beat it. 164 mph in 8.34 sec., on pump gas. It weighs 1300 lbs.
  12. Amphicar buyer, I hit e-bay for Amphicar and came up with one. # 4625986229 IT LOOLS LIKE I WOULD ONLY TAKE ONLY ABOUT 15 GAL. OF BONDO TO MAKE IT FLOAT!
  13. It?s not as bad as it seems. A little emery cloth on that cam and it will me as good as new. I have a restored dragster that was the top winner for three years in a row in New England in the late 50's, early 60's. I asked about donating it to their museum and their reply was, We will accept it but we may use it for parts and dispose of the rest. Needless to say, they are not getting it. It has sense been provisionally accepted to the Peterson Museum for future display as a rare original dragster of that period.
  14. On two separate occasions, while dissembling 1946 Fords, I have found the crescent shaped wrench that was made specifically made for removing the starter on flat head fords, still jammed on the bolts near the radiator that some one forgot to remove.
  15. Jaxops, But we take supervision very seriously. Al Cohaul leads us through the hard times very well thank you.
  16. I had replaced the rear bumper on a VW in about 1969 with a rechrome. It was not ,of course, triple chrome plated. The customer came back within a few weeks complaining. Someone had hit the bumper enough to flex it with out leaving a dent in it. The chrome all cracked in ling with the length of the bumper and rusted badly.
  17. Try Corker Tire Company for some good tires.
  18. McEarl, Think of that last &^($%)#*(%&%(&(!@#$ rock as a memento of a really good idea with a slight flaw.
  19. I have found a sure fire way to clean out a rusted/gummed up fuel tank for practically nothing. Wash out the tank with a strong detergent and water to remove the gas. Then put in more detergent and a hand full or two of sand and gravel (and a few rocks if you desire) and a few gallons of water. Use your pressure washer to "Sand Blast" the interior. Wash out several times and drain through the fuel gauge hole. (That is the part that takes the longest.) Then install a few pints of dry gas and swish around and drain.
  20. The pictures are fine but I really like the sketches. You must be a draftsman! I do have a question about a trailer swaying though. A friend went out and bought the best Radial tires he could find for his 35'enclosed 12,000lb trailer. I think that it is the tires that gives him his sidesway. How do you, and other readers feel about radials on a trailer? When it is standing still you can push it side ways and get it moving about 2" back and forth.
  21. The advertisement that I had read stated that the finish product is 98% similar looking to chrome plating. At 20' that?s good enough for me. realy don't want to spend $1000.00 to chrome plate nmy grille. The $1000.00 would be better spent on the interior.
  22. Regarding the GM futurarama bus that sold for 4.3 million, there is one owned by a bus service in Springfield Ma. that cost them $245,000 to rebuild. ?They could be persuaded to sell it if an offer came in?. LOL
  23. I have seen the directions for a paint like . First you paint the object black, sand and buff to a mirror finish, then apply the "Chrome" and clear. I am going to try it on my radiator shell.
