  1. All 59-60 eldorados originally had air suspension (air bags at each corner, an air compressor combined with the power steering pump, and associated lines and valves). most found this troublesome and had the air bags replaced with standard coil springs.
  2. Very nice. Is it still on air suspension or was it converted to springs? the closest thing to getting it “registered” would be to have it judged at the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National. This summer it is outside of Chicago and in 2023 it is in Albuquerque NM. This judging is based on as delivered to the dealership. 3. Yes, it is long in the tooth, but would make a great driver. To me this is a lot of car for $175k. the Gilmore award, at the ccca experience, is chosen by the museum trustees and they may not be aware of the repro body.
  4. Reproduction body, but this equates to about $175k. I would have figured $75-100k more. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa22/paris/lots/r0009-1930-cadillac-v-16-roadster-in-the-style-of-fleetwood/1196926
  5. To me it is over priced. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am17/amelia-island/lots/r157-1935-cadillac-v-8-five-passenger-town-sedan/416508
  6. What brand / model pump do you use?
  7. Very nice. I understand that Persian Sand was the most popular color from the factory on these cars. Has the car been painted or is that factory paint? Under the hood, on the drivers side, at the cowl, is the data tag. It will give you the paint code, interior color code , and the body number. It is accepted that 1320 were made.
  8. Are you suggesting that rm auction, bonhams, Mecum, etc are running conspiracies where the buyer/seller/auction house are falsifying prices paid for cars? Can you provide any evidence to back that up? I
  9. There are private lists. No official entity maintains a list. The Cadillac LaSalle club has a list of members who own one but that is not exhaustive by any means.
  10. There is a ton of money sloshing around out there. feels like early 1989 to me. That B&S Duesenberg that World Wide sold for $2.2 million was sold at Auburn for $745k in 2018.
  11. I don’t know if there was a official update package from the factory or one dealer updated this particular car on their own. I am sure the Packard people know one way or another.
  12. I think they are referring to 1932 upgrades done at the dealership to make left over 1931 cars appear like 1932 models.
  13. 1941 Cadillac 75 with AC . https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/sj13/st--john-s/lots/r148-1941-cadillac-series-75-five-passenger-touring-sedan-by-fleetwood/293691
  14. Price realized $55k (plus 15%). Not sure if that means sold? Seems about right, all things considered. https://kraftauctions.hibid.com/lot/25205-268204-935094/1938-cadillac-series-75-4-door-convertible-sedan/
  15. My suggestion for anyone considering a car is to join the club of that mark and go to the national meet. Talked to owners of the cars you are interested in. the CLC grand national is outside of Chicago this summer. Most 1936 Cadillacs are missing those items, especially the voltage regulator and carburetor/ air cleaner. It will depend on what you want to do with the car. If it is for touring, then not really a big deal.
  16. Here is an example of the difference in cost between two flathead Cadillac carburetors, and why the one year only 1936 engine costs more to restore,if you are starting with an incomplete car.
  17. Here is one: https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am08/automobiles-of-amelia-island/lots/r217-1939-cadillac-v16-fleetwood-convertible-sedan-conversion/193306
  18. I would bet there are over 30 1938-40 Cadillac v16 convertible sedans now. 19 original ones and 11 where a 7529 body was placed on a v16 sedan chassis.
  19. I agree that this is the future (interesting products between 1980-2010, very few of which were made by the domestic manufacturers). But I am still surprised by this. You can get a Toyota Supra or a NSX for this money (at least you could a short while ago). It is interesting how fast things are changing.
  20. The bidding was $42-45k without the interior and top with two days to go (on eBay) sometime last spring/summer. the prior owner told me that he got an offer and it was going to Florida. So, I would be surprised if he lets it go for less that he has into it. Whatever that is.

  22. Just did this. Contacted dealer via email. Ordered the car over the phone. Got exactly what I wanted (color, options, interior color) and never stepped in the dealership (which was in a different state). They delivered it to my door. only issue was it took 4 months from phone call to delivery, due to the “chip shortage. “
  23. I don’t remember the aluminum radiator in the prior auction. Makes me thing that the car is overheating and solved with the only street rodder solution: aluminum radiator.
  24. I have never seen a pleated seat on a convertible sedan (authenticity restored). I understand the pleated seats for sedans/ coupes. I skipped the one in MN (when it was asking $70k in Illinois) due to the two tone paint and pleated door panels and seats. below is my understanding of what the door panels/doors should look like. (Yes it is a coupe, not a sedan)
