  1. Try bring a trailer. $10k might happen. All depends on condition. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-chrysler-cordoba/
  2. No. The Ring brothers version is uglier: https://www.motortrend.com/news/sema-ringbrothers-unveils-1948-cadillac-ats-v-bits
  3. Why street rod a nice (non rusty) complete car? Because it makes financial sense. My guess is that the bill was at least $400k to build it. ( could be over a million). Why pay someone $100-250 an hour to fix up a rusty junker and add 6 months to the project. Waste of time and money when you can get a nice car to start with for $30-50k.
  4. Hyman was asking $150-180k for one. In the last five years. Running, driving, with new tires, my guess is that a dealer asks $125-140k.
  5. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/cadillac/341b/2562312.html If real, this seems to be a very good deal.
  6. Yes, but I think that the difference between the two prices is primarily that the “Clark Gable” car is believed to be an authentic twin six and not an assembly of parts. Maybe not.
  7. looks can be deceiving. The clark gable 32 twin six sold for $1.2 million. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am16/amelia-island/lots/r174-1932-packard-twin-six-coupe-roadster/175367 Hyman had this one(made from an 8 cylinder body) for under $400k. https://hymanltd.com/vehicles/6395-1932-packard-twin-six-coupe-roadster/
  8. Didn’t he indicate that he had a 30-31 Cadillac v16 roadster in a building attached to a building that he could not get out.
  9. The price is not out of line for a quality example, which the above car is not. this lasted about a week: https://classicpromenade.com/for-sale/1947-cadillac-series-75-touring-sedan/ And I presume sold for asking.
  10. Ford out sold them in 1949, the first year of the design. Post war America you could sell anything new. Regardless, a Toyota Camry is generally the top selling “car” over the last 20 years. That does not make it a wonderfully stylish car. Quite the opposite. Styling is an OPINION. Everyone has one.
  11. I don’t get paying $100 million plus for a Damien Hirst skull. I don’t get paying $2 million for a lead sled by some backyard customizers. I don’t get paying $2 million for a dead actor’s 930 turbo. But I know there are those that think these things are worth more than the sum of their parts. Is there a difference between the v16 Cadillac with the reproduction roadster body and a factory v16 roadster? To most everyone they are the same car. But the history of the factory bodied car adds value. That is the case here. The history of ownership adds value. F1 has a world wide audience and is growing. Plus the world is awash with money. I don’t think it will be stratospheric, but 3-5 times what a similar one would go for. And less than an alloy gullwing. It will certainly be less that the $30 million paid, 9 years ago, for the Mercedes w196, a car he won the championship in (1954). My guess is that it ends up in Canada next to a 275 NART.
  12. Yes. A 50s lead sled has an aging audience in the US. This has a world wide audience.
  13. My guess is a minimum of $3 million. I could see as high as $5 million. Many in the F1 world will be interested.
  14. All 59-60 eldorados originally had air suspension (air bags at each corner, an air compressor combined with the power steering pump, and associated lines and valves). most found this troublesome and had the air bags replaced with standard coil springs.
  15. Very nice. Is it still on air suspension or was it converted to springs? the closest thing to getting it “registered” would be to have it judged at the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National. This summer it is outside of Chicago and in 2023 it is in Albuquerque NM. This judging is based on as delivered to the dealership. 16. Yes, it is long in the tooth, but would make a great driver. To me this is a lot of car for $175k. the Gilmore award, at the ccca experience, is chosen by the museum trustees and they may not be aware of the repro body.
  17. Reproduction body, but this equates to about $175k. I would have figured $75-100k more. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa22/paris/lots/r0009-1930-cadillac-v-16-roadster-in-the-style-of-fleetwood/1196926
  18. To me it is over priced. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am17/amelia-island/lots/r157-1935-cadillac-v-8-five-passenger-town-sedan/416508
  19. What brand / model pump do you use?
  20. Very nice. I understand that Persian Sand was the most popular color from the factory on these cars. Has the car been painted or is that factory paint? Under the hood, on the drivers side, at the cowl, is the data tag. It will give you the paint code, interior color code , and the body number. It is accepted that 1320 were made.
  21. Are you suggesting that rm auction, bonhams, Mecum, etc are running conspiracies where the buyer/seller/auction house are falsifying prices paid for cars? Can you provide any evidence to back that up? I
