  1. Anytime thank you for sharing this with the forum truly made my day! And I believe you said this had a golf bag door on the passenger side if so that is another give away to me as they added that in 1922 as standard. I’m gonna watch this movie later this week with my fiancé so I’m very excited to see it in the movie and thank you again for sharing as I would have not known of this movie otherwise! I hope you have a blessed rest of your week:)!
  2. No problem I’m happy to help. If you are ever curious about more accurate history on the Cole motor car company visit http://colemotorcarregistry.com my father and I built the site after acquiring a vast amount of original Cole literature including saved original factory documents although many were lost do to a flood at the factory in the 80s unfortunately but we acquired all this and so many artifacts from the previous man who ran the Cole motor car club of America. My family is also close with the surviving members of the Cole family. Here’s a photo of a 1920 and the badge it would have had. my family also has a 1919 and it’s the same badge as the 20. Unfortunately a lot of information on Cole is quite inaccurate including many books. One of the biggest car books with miss information on the Cole’s is the standard catalog of American cars 1805-1942. As you can probably tell I’m very passionate about the Cole’s sorry if all this info is unneeded and annoying to you I just love talking about the wonderful Cole automobiles.
  3. I don’t think they are Cole but just on the very slight chance they could be for the 3 years Cole used them for I’ll have my dad measure and look at the ones on our Cole’s. Definitely agree with what was said earlier though definitely belongs to a higher end car wouldn’t have been on a cheap car at least I don’t believe.
  4. Unfortunately that is incorrect Cole did not start to use drum headlights and that kind of badge until late 22 through 23
  5. I believe this is a 1923 or late 22 model which would make it a 890 actually. See my profile picture for reference it’s my personal 1923 Cole 2 person sport coupe. Amazing you found this I had only ever known about one other movie from around this time that had a Cole in it so I love this very much! Thank you for making my day. Interesting enough jj Cole had actually payed a bunch of money to have a silent film made to advertise the Cole’s specifically it’s lost to time as far as I know. My dad knows more about the story of the film as him and I run the Cole motor car registry.
  6. Hmmm very interesting. I believe the backend/trunk is actually the best thing to possibly identify this vehicle. I would be inclined to believe it’s a cloverleaf body as well but it’s possible it’s not. Give me a couple days and I’ll see if I can narrow it down for you it’s gonna be tough but not necessarily impossible. Also I doesn’t appear to be a cheap car like a model t but doesn’t appear to be a very expensive car either from what i can see. Cole had a clover leaf body but I think that’s a wider looking car but I’ll look into it. I hope someone can identify this properly if I’m not able.
  7. Most certainly is! Looks like it has a California top as well very nice car and a very rare model.
  8. The standard catalog is an amazing book for info about many makes of cars but unfortunately it also has many errors with some car companies so I wouldn’t necessarily take the book’s writings as exact. I only know this because of what most of of the book say’s about the cole cars is very inaccurate.
  9. Hmmmm very interesting I don’t believe my dad and I are aware of that car we run the registry and have 80 known cars I believe now. I’ll double check but that’s interesting thank you for informing me of that. My car is a 23 Cole coupe but it’s a completely different body style than the one discussed in this topic so I did not post it.
  10. Cole had several variations of this body style throughout the company’s time running. However my favorite are probably the 1920-1922 Cole Victoria coupe although they referred to it as a sport coupe. I’ll post more photos of some of them from the actual time they were made as my dad has access to most of the Cole family photos/archives. I love coupes some of my favorites! I believe only one 1920 Cole coupe survives today.
  11. Yes you’re correct. it is the exact same on my dads 13 Cole. I was just able to verify by looking recently if my dad has a photo I’ll post it but I am now 99.9% sure this is a Cole.
  12. Also cole was very big on advertising the car for woman especially the series nine touring car. Infact the first licensed woman to drive in the state of indiana drove a Cole series nine. This is a very amazing photo thank you for sharing and I’m thankful I was able to help. I obviously love the cole motor car company 😂.
  13. I’m possibly wrong as several car companies had similar types of bodies that year and it’s hard to tell from what we can see unfortunately not to many distinguishing features. However the way the cowl is it reminds me honestly of a 1913/14 cole or Cadillac. Again I’m not positive and I could be way off but it does have some similarities but like I said a few companies had body’s like that at the time. If it was a cole it was have been a series ten and not a Series nine since it appears it doesn’t have the cowl lights coke removed the for the series ten models. I’m sure someone will get it exact but rn that’s my best guess so far I will keep digging through my car book for all the car companies .
  14. I could be way off and I’m gonna keep searching but something that kinda reminded me of this car is the ace car built in Ypsilanti Michigan from 1920-22 so if this photo is for sure from 1918 than it’s not this car brand but I thought it was interesting enough to share.
  15. This would also have been used on a cole series 890 specifically all 890 master models. I will have to double check but I believe it was the schebler model s and I believe the duesenberg model a used them as well but again I’ll have to go through some of my stuff and double check. Awesome carburetor!!!
  16. I’m definitely not an expert at all when it comes to this stuff as we all know I mainly know about Cole cars. But going through my standard catalog of American cars 1805-1942 it says that graham Paige did use le baron bodies however I don’t know how many and still I don’t know if that changes anyones opinion on this car just thought I should share this. My apologies if it’s not anything you guys didn’t already know
  17. Not sure if any of this info is anything you don’t already know but thought it’d be worth sharing anyways. P.s thank you for keeping this wonderful historic home preserved and hopefully kept around for many more generations too enjoy and learn about!
  18. Hello everyone this does not have to do with our particular car but just wanted to share it with all. I am currently going through old original scanned magazines from the time and found this cool story in a 1911 horseless age magazine about a company in New York who purchased 50 Cole roasters for their traveling salesmen man if only you could get a cool car like that for being a traveling salesman today 😂. My apologies if the screen shots are a bit distracting I’ll most likely continue to post more story’s/info I find in the magazines on the coles as long as you all don’t mind. Thank you again Ben
  19. Yes I don’t remember the exact mileage but I do know it’s in the 9 thousand mile range I’m sure my dad can share a photo of the exact mileage and give even more info as he has the book with all the info on the car. the previous owner as I stated before is 100 and he had acquired the car from a big time car collector in Iowa when he unfortunately passed as far as we know we are the fourth owner of the car. You’re correct with the one repaint and original upholstery the second owner of the car had it repainted in the 50s and didn’t do the best job but it’s not bad especially for the age. I’ll have my dad chime in when he’s able too as he can explain the history a lot better than I can. my apologies for not knowing the exact mileage like I said I’ll have my dad respond as soon as he’s able too. Thank you again for being so interested:)!!
  20. I just wanted to post about a couple findings my dad discovered while at the car show this weekend in this first picture is an original grease chart/mechanical chart it was discovered by simply sliding this wood panel and there it was! Also someone had pointed out to my dad that the prestolite tank had a rare cover accessory for the time you e had just assumed someone painted the tank black but nope when he undid the cover the original tank with writing and all was revealed! And not pictured here I’ll try and get some photos when I’m able too we discovered that it is still using the original spark plugs from the time and they still work incredibly well! Now this car is a very low mileage car it only has 9 thousand miles so not bad at all for a one hundred and eleven year old car. Anyways just thought I’d continue to share as we continue to discover more stuff about the car thank you again to everyone that has shown interest in the coles it makes my entire day with every kind comments from all you amazing people! Sincerely Ben:)
  21. Thank you very much and I agree they look spectacular together I love just how quickly things changed in the automotive industry at the time and the fact you can see it with those two coke models with the 13 Cole using all electric and the 1911 using gas for the lighting just very cool to see. Unfortunately I am going through the process of being diagnosed with a very rare muscular disorder and I’m just going through a lot of testing and many doctor visits but I promise I’ll be back and out with the coles and sharing my knowledge of them in person as soon as I can!! Thank you again for your kindness and enjoying the coles!
  22. Of course anytime I love sharing the coles and all the history I can about them I love all pre war cars but the coles have especially gained a special place in my heart for a obvious reason. I would love to answer your question but unfortunately I don’t know my apologies. I told my dad though and he’ll answer you when he’s done with everything at the show today. Thank you again for your comment I always appreciate your kindness and knowledge Ben
