  1. I don't know much about those cars or if that is a good price, but I really like the look of them.
  2. The last I heard (several weeks old) the room block the BCA has sold out but there are rooms available. I booked mine through Hotels.com and have a no-deposit reservation for the same price, although I don't get breakfast.
  3. Chicago is/was rife with both speed and red light cameras. And you're right, they're entirely a revenue stream. At least in Chicago, you have to pay a court appearance request to fight the ticket, win or lose. Plus, the fine. It's way easier to pay it, assuming you can afford it.
  4. I looked at this car about 2 years ago +/-. https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/lake-bluff-1970-buick-skylark-custom/7712027775.html How many points off for the engine compartment fire?
  5. Some info is available on the ROA site, members only area, IIRC.
  6. Well that REALLY surprises me. I would assume the Jaguar would have been significantly higher. Either way, that Kaiser sure is a nice looking car, although if I could afford any I'd always take a vintage Jaguar.
  7. Depends. The closer you get to the city, the heavier the traffic, the more wear. I'm on the edge of suburbia and the roads are pretty decent. Last time I was in Tampa I wondered if I was in Chicago.
  8. Weren't they in significantly different price ranges, though?
  9. How did this car compare to others of its time for dependability, driving enjoyment, etc.?
  10. Buick Regional. In the past the schedule has been: Thursday night registration and social hour Friday scheduled group and/or self-directed activities in the area Saturday, show day, judging, dinner, etc.
  11. Working on a regional event, and we need to raise funds for it or it won't happen. We've been calling dealers near the proposed site, as well as some restoration shops, parts retailers, etc. So far, no luck. Any ideas on different people to call, different approaches you've found that have worked, etc. I'm a real neophyte at asking for money, which is probably why I was a terrible sales person.
  12. This is the only color I can remember seeing this car in, not that I've seen many. Nice to see it in other colors as well. Regardless how well built they were, I do like the look of them.
  13. Or it is someone from 1000 miles away who wants to relocate for whatever reason, family, job, weather, whatever. The more esoteric the property the wider the net needs to be to catch the one fish.
  14. Forget about what YOU use it for. Think what it could be used for. Same thing as decluttering your house. You want a prospective buyer to see how their stuff will fit, not how your stuff does (or doesn't) fit. If you haven't already and the weather cooperates, empty it out and take some photos of the interior, showing doors, cabinets, electrical, etc.

  16. A few things I've heard/discovered. Take them for what you will as the situation is no doubt changing: 1. As of last Wednesday, 01/03, the BCA block was full 2. Room prices that are not on the block are higher, about $160 +/- 3. Rooms WERE AVAILABLE AS OF 01/07. You can either contact someone at BCA or the host chapter and have them call the hotel to open up more rooms or book outside the BCA block. I booked through Hotels.com at $110+/- OUTSIDE the BCA block. My rate does not include breakfast, but I don't care. I am under the impression that there ARE rooms available and the hotel has additional rooms they can include in the BCA block but that is unconfirmed.
  17. I forgot to mention what prompted me to look in the first place was that another person who was planning to go to BCA Nationals said they couldn't get a room in the host hotel for anywhere approaching the show rate. The hotel said they block was full already and they couldn't open more rooms (third hand info, but my source is a long-term BCA member and I consider them reliable). So in the case of BCA Nationals they aren't getting hurt by going around the BCA block. Point is, there is more than one way to get around a lack of reasonably priced rooms.
  18. Just a reminder to check some of the travel sites before you book your show hotels. I just booked the BCA 2024 Nationals hotel for less than the meet rate. Granted, it doesn't include breakfast but my fee was fully refundable until 2 days before the show starts. The Riviera Nationals in Lexington KY is also less, but that is a non-refundable booking through the site I used. Your mileage may vary.
  19. The one at I-88 and Route 59 has cut wait times through that intersection at rush hour by half, based on my estimate.
  20. A few years ago Michigan started the Michigan left, which I though was stupid. Make a right then a u-turn at the designated spot. According to the DOT they reduced accidents over 40%. There was one roundabout I used to use daily and after 2 years there were people who STILL couldn't figure it out. IMO it's not the design of the roads, but the novel design of roads. People who drive the same roads over and over (most of us) will eventually either stop paying attention or look for ways to "beat" the traffic. Making changes keeps us engaged.
