  1. I have a couple of them, and Barkas as well. Yes to to US only the 311 was exported. When the berlin wall built, the business went wrong and stopped.Interesting fact that the same designer drawned the 311 and the 353 also. His name was Hans Fleischer ang got design merit award for both cars. The 311 compared with a 353 is a hand built very complicated and needs a lot of man hour to build, it has beautiful shapes and details, wood armrest, beautiful instruments and so on.The 353 is simple as a brick, easy to manufacture, easy to put it together and easy to operate. No fancy details, just a good workhorse like a Model T at its age.Lots of people hate 2stroke because of the smell and the blue smoke, but if the exhaust system is clear, and good 2T oil is used its not so bad.I use mine more than 15years. Its a 1975 Tourist, which mean estate in Us.
  2. I got this 1977 Wartburg 353 from a garden which looks like a forest.Owners died years ago.Even a tree grown between the bumper and the fibre glass rear door.

  4. I also want to make one to my 1929 Chrysler model 65. I attach it to the steering coloumn because I found an old russian tacho which is almost the same diameter like the steering coloumn. With point and gap ignition it does not work properly, but I added a petronix electic ignition. Not tested yet.
  5. Please help me about the car on the picture. Picture made in Hungary
  6. I keep all the original parts, they are in a box under the rear seat, so I can put it back if electric unit fails.
  7. Sun tester unfortunatelly not available here in hungary.I take the distributor apart, clean it, bushing and everything is fine.Weights are moving freely, springs are ok.As I mentioned an electric pertronix ignition installed. There is a mark in the crankshaft pulley and the engine front. This could be the ignition point at idle? When I increase rev I see the weight advance is working well.
  8. Sorry I think I put it wrong, my english is not the best unfortunatelly. The question is how many degree need the timing adjust for modern petrol.I use pertronix electric ignition, so no points and gaps which I can measure.
  9. Could somebody know the good ignition dwell angle for my flathead six normal compression (not red top)? I want to adjust it by timing light. Better if i know the dwell at idle speed , mid range rev and high rev to check the automatic adjust weights are working properly. I live in central europe and use unleaded 95octane fuel. Thanks
  10. Mine is approx 1980 usa tool, works fine, but i use a 12v battery only for the tool.
  11. These spacer rings are new for me. Here the ring manufacturer can made any kind of cast iron ring produce. Nice work anyway, I wait for the updates!
  12. I can buy center stem 18" ultra heavy duty cross motorcycle tube 4mm thick for my 1929 Chrysler model 65.Only problem just the hole on the rim is much bigger than the stem, i made a rubber piece to protect the inner tube from dust or water.Tube manufacturer Mitas, czech republik. https://www.mitas-moto.com/en/products/tubes-and-mousse/tubes
  13. Still think a heat camera for example in a Caterpillar mobile can show you how the cooling system works. Gratulation to solve the low oil pressure problem.
  14. I offer you If you have a mobile phone or other device which has a heat camera check how the engine is getting hot. Maybe you will see a causeless hotspot. And the check of the water pump flow by big water tank is a good idea. If you fail to solve the problem, still have the fastest and much expensive tea-water boiling machine of the world:)) Sorry, bad joke my fingers crossed to have the solution!
  15. Thank you for the answers, maybe the photo was taken in argentina, the family moved there under rhe war.
  16. Could somebody identify this car? Photo was taken in austria in 1940.
  17. Could you measure your rpm at 50mph? What is the "red line" for this 6cyl engine? And one more, how is your mpg?Mine is about 12mpg at steady 35mph.
  18. I have a 1929 Chrylser model 65 and have the same problem. By ear I feel 30-32mph is the good for the car and the engine. Originally it has 4 differential ratios, mine is the shortest (44-9)unfortunatelly. Factory made 44-9 46-10 43-10 and a 43-11.The longest is 16% longer but I could not find yet. 1st gear is very short, you can start with 2nd if the car is not full with people. In winter I think I made a longer version, or build in a Volvo overdrive not sure which is better.
  19. Yes I want to flush my engine and radiator together. My car is 1929 Chrysler 65.Engine cast iron, radiator copper. I found a Protec 1501 cooling system cleaner which is just an additive to coolant. Use it for 15 minutes at idle and all will be clean....too good to be true I wait to know your product name and the result with it.
  20. Anybody knows what is the equivalent product here is Europe? Evapo-rust is not available
