  1. Belt buckles, rivets on the cars' finishes..... high heels and rat-tail combs on cars upholstery..... sends the cringe factor off the scales..... only way to avoid damage.... dress down for the photo-op. I apologize for being such a stickler for detail.
  2. The only women my current project is attracting is way way too many Susan Anthony's....
  3. Looks like more than a single chic magnet, looks like you'll attract the whole Can-Can brood. Re: bridge crossings... That might be "a bridge too far". Or it might get taken out by friendly fire as a offensive strategy before you even get there.
  4. This gives a whole new meaning to the term "hood ornament". Also roof and trunk "racks".
  5. Is that a crack I see in the driver's side of the windsheild? Oh forget it, I think it's just an optical delusion..
  6. Personality, charm, appearance, attitude, physique, "equipment", money and wheels. Use what you have to the best of your ability to make the best impression possible. My courting year's cars were a 1980 Pontiac Firefird and an 81 Buick Regal. The Buick came second because Buicks are for older "men".
  7. This is my personal opinion.... I'm really not that fond of the color. But if someone would give it to me, I wouldn't turn it down! I didn't say I hated it.
  8. No persons or animals were harmed in the "filming" of this skit.....
  9. Looks like a bad case of G"old"en age road rage
  10. Terry, is there a groove for a wire in that assembly at the other end of the screen too? It would be nice to find another piece of screen and start over. A larger piece should be used and the two ends could have the excess trimmed off after the wire around the circumference was used to secure it in place. Even the overlap could be loosely stitched together with wire looped through the screen in several places, then slip the screen on and then the wires tightened and trimmed after its in its place. Solder too? Getting the original mesh screen under the wire might be a challenge if it's barely long enough. Seems you guys south of the border can find and have access to just about anything. That woven metal screen material is probably available somewhere. A lot of times, finding stuff north of the Canada/US border is like Unicorn hunting, unless I'm just not looking in the right places! Best of luck.
  11. Regarding the epoxy, i don't know if this would have been possible but weaving wire through that overlap may have been a better option. Maybe even around the circumference. And someone suggested brazing/soldering the overlap as well. There could have been many noodle shaped pieces of epoxy on the inside of the screen, maybe some let go? Best of luck with your detective work.
  12. Terry, do you still have the original spring? A clear picture of the two side by side would be nice. Edit in: I just added in the screenshot again. The two springs "look" alot alike but a side by side comparison would be best. But was curious if the first coil after the sharp bend on the top and bottom were right tight to the next coil beside it.... forming more of a circle then regular winding after that. Is it possible to see where the bent tab of the new spring was riding in the upper and lower slots? Is it possible it was riding too close to the open end of the slot and popped out? The issue could have been made worse if the spring compressed itself and became shorter when it was subjected to torque.
  13. Do your business and get out. Now I'll mind mine... Take care.
  14. I think the ohms range is acceptable too. I'll install it into the gas tank to take any possible strain off those gerry-rigged rivets. When the Bob's floats get here I'll take the sending unit back out of the tank, put them on and re-install. Then finally get that tank back under the car. Thanks everyone for your patience and guidance. This thing was seized and broken, with all your help I was able to resurrect the dead sending unit. I hope it lasts.
  15. I'm not really satisfied with the underside. Yes Rocky the casings split. It seems the more material sticking out of the hole the worse it was. The mounting screws easily fit through the holes of the hollow "rivets" Rocky, No comment on your garters
  16. Ok, thanks Emtee. Maybe I should quit trying to find solutions to problems that don't exist.😉
  17. Another question. Did anyone attempt to seal this wiper shaft where it comes through the base? Either from the top or underside(inside gas tank side). I thought a wee bit of silicon around the shaft on the top side, or in the recess that is there on the underside( I don't have a pic of that area at the moment). I'm not talking a pile of silicon. It would have to dry then gently move the float lever to release the silicon bond. How did they prevent a wee bit of gas and vapor from getting into the resistor area under the cap? Even overfilling the tank to the point it comes up the filler neck would have the sending unit assembly "below" the gas level.
  18. Emtee, Not too many spots available. Maybe at the 4 o'clock, 9 or 11 o'clock positions. I will use the 2 smaller holes to put bolts in during the attempt to rivet this thing back together.
  19. I don't have a hollow rivet setter and really don't want to buy one to install three rivets. I was also wondering if inserting a bolt through the hollow rivet that fit snuggly, holding the head in the vice and using the tightening action of the nut to crush/peen the rivet tight. Did you just use ball bearings Bloo? I think I remember you said you made your own rivets. What did you use or start with?
  20. On the bright side, tread wear is fairly even in the first post. I'd say they got their money's worth out of that tire.
  21. Rocky... I honestly don't know, without trying. Are you asking about the bullet casings or those other inserts from the fittings for airbrakes and water lines. Any thoughts and opinions will be considered. Considered to confuse me more. Lol, just kidding. It's good to hear what other people have to say or what worked for them.
  22. I did see those at a local bigbox lumber store. Although I only saw them as complete sets with the fittings. I'll look again. Also, we have an air brake road repair kit that had something in it that was real close to fitting in the holes. I would probably have to do a wee bit of hole filing to get them to fit. Thing is, the bullet casings fit.
  23. I thought this thread was going to be about VaporBlasting. I know a guy who had a self contained VaporBlaster(larger cabinet model). It uses a combination of blasting medium and water. Obviously dustless.
  24. If Admin or the Moderators want to merge this thread with the others, that's fine with me. Maybe no need for the duplication and clutter.
  25. Who knows, maybe a chunk of epoxy or what ever is on the screen came loose and temporarily lodged in the pump? Let us know what you find.
