  1. The 57 Chevy is not restored. It's a modified car. Just in the picture I see incorrect wheels, tires, paint color, disc brakes and interior.
  2. What I would do is soak that thing in carburetor cleaner, rinse it out in kerosene, then fill it with oil then turn it over and let it drip dry. Your rinse in kerosene will have to be done over and over to get all the particles out of it and the kerosene runs clear.
  3. Buick is the only G.M. car to my knowledge that has two sources of outside air to the crankcase. The left side of the Buick engine has a filter breather that's louvered. Pontiac for instance uses a breather cap that's stuffed with wire and 1/2 of the cap has an air directing flange to move air into the crankcase and looks similar to the one below; That air comes from the engine fan and pressurizes the system constantly with fresh air, the system is vented by the road draft tube and the system is called " Pressure / Suction" crankcase ventilation. Normally, but not all cars have the road draft tube cut at an angle, but the best system does. Cutting the tube at an angle creates a low-pressure area under the tube when the car is driven to draw the blowby gasses out of the engine. ALL of these breathers MUST be cleaned every oil change (oil changes in the day were somewhere between 2000 and 3000 miles) and these breathers must be cleaned with (some old manuals say clean with gasoline) kerosene or paint thinner, then filled with engine oil and allowed to drip dry before reinstalling. The reason is so the oil coats the metal mesh and that takes dirt out of the air stream before going into the engine. If you want long engine life this system MUST be maintained. Interesting thing about the Buick straight eight is everyone forgets about the left side intake filter hiding behind everything.
  4. Doesn't make a bit of difference to the Fed. So you will pay mileage tax to the Fed, and you will pay another mileage tax to the state.
  5. No, they've ( Fed.) have already said they want this directly to them.
  6. Modified to " It's a 1956 Cadillac " don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
  7. Why is our local Toyota dealers lot empty and has been for several months?
  8. Might be a good idea to buy pre OBD2, that way the gov has a harder time with the new mileage tax as they need your BCM to interface with the transponder you have to buy.
  9. I hope you watched that movie! Occasionally it surfaces on TCM. The owner of the house and cars taste is Perfeck! Didn't know they made three tone Chevrolets.
  10. Not the color but, a roof that will appear on 58 Chevrolet and Pontiac, sweep cut fender styling with "factory" stainless wheelhouse molding = no skirts perfect! It's my favorite G.M. car for 57.
  11. Do you remember when the Snap-On guy would give out the stickers for your rollaway that said " I make my living with Snap-On tools, please don't ask to borrow them"?

  13. Adding a four-door version again in the Gen. 5 in 1989, however those cars and the ones to follow weren't really Pontiac's IMO.
  14. Called "American Factory" But first! know the people who made the film including the production company and who owns it.
  15. My newest vehicle that I bought new is a 2019 NISSAN 4.1 DOHC six Frontier 4 dr. pick up. It was designed in La Jolla Ca. The foundry for the engine is in Decherd Tennessee, the truck built in Smyrna Tennessee. The vehicle has more U.S. content than Ford or Chevrolet trucks. What troubles me the most is trouble on the horizon. We are not at war with Japan or Germany anymore. We insisted on building those countries into a democracy and have done so-starting 77years ago! and yet here we have G.M. going off to China (and taking most of its engineering with it) to do business and product/engineering sharing at a time when China is racing full speed ahead at world dominance. What will we do when they go after Taiwan? Our response will be our and the rest of the world's future. This confrontation is coming sooner than you think. I think we should be focusing somewhere else rather than the distant past. Learn from it (that's why we rebuilt those two countries, we remember what happened after WW1 with Germany when we didn't) but remember there is no future in a memory but there is wisdom. Be prepared.

  17. Some people are getting confused between Pink, Coral and purple.
  18. This is another SO car. Special order cars have a SO tag next attached next to the data tag. This particular car was Harly Earl's wife's car, a 1959 Pontiac Catalina with Bonneville / Star Chief rear taillights and a Bonneville interior. She probably wanted a Catalina because they were 7" shorter (all in the trunk) than Star Chief and Bonneville and probably easier to maneuver and park. Note; 1959 Bonneville and Star Chief would not fit in many garages of even relatively new homes of the 50's. My SO Catalina just fit (with the garage door closed) my parents garage, a Bonneville would have never made it.
  19. Not listed on any of the Streetside Classics locations.
  20. If you really wanted to protect the wood and wanted a deep look to it. I would do what we did to surfboards just right after WW2 when they were still made of wood. The availability of surfboard resin " Coating and laminating resin" really helped preserve wood. Also, the availability of fiberglass cloth in different Oz. thickness even further adds to durability and strength.
  21. Maybe you do and this is an advertisement in England;
