  1. NOT MINE. I would call this a bargain if all is true. If it was closer I would have already bought and use as a daily. Too bad it left TX. Sounds like it was right around the corner from me when he came and got it https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Packard-Deluxe-Eight-Clipper-Deluxe/293149500263?_trkparms=aid%3D888008%26algo%3DDISC.CARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D59000%26meid%3Deee2ff16790a424da045eb53b1b003b0%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D223601546545%26itm%3D293149500263%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
  2. I know guys that have actually stopped taking their mustangs to shows anymore because everyone has one. They have gotten dull. And they are always red or black. I can park my 46 Dodge "bomber" coupe way out under a tree and folks will walk the empty yards between just to get a "smell" of it. I am treating her to new shocks this weekend. Bomber? I was asked one day by a guy with kids what color it is. "Bombardier Blue!" I said. The one kid responded calling it "The Blue Bomber" and it has been that ever since.
  3. My 65 Fury convertible is a ton of fun with it's little 318 poly motor. Mid to late 60's convertibles are climbing in value. For some reason Mopar's more so. Cougars of this vintage just get very over looked. Runner up to Mustangs and Camaro's. 80's cars just the same. My 65 k all original survivor 1980 Z28 with 4 speed people just walk right past , "ho hum a camaro that isn't a 1969"
  4. Spark and Fuel. make sure your plugs are firing with a simple device like this. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/s-g-tool-aid-hands-free-in-line-ignition-spark-tester-sgt23900/22985359-p?c3ch=PLA&c3nid=22985359-P&adtype=pla&product_channel=online&gclid=CjwKCAjw7O_pBRA3EiwA_lmtfrB9w13pXTVVYEp9ah2-u3Ms9lulvPEIIYNdkw8iDqZsr4SaNJ2HzBoCk14QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds If so make sure your getting fuel at the carb. remove the air cleaner and pump the linkage a couple times to see if you have fuel in the carb. If not check for fuel in tank. Clogged fuel filter? Spark? Have to check and and see if fuel pump is working. Remove coil wire from coil end, disconnect fuel line from carb and stick in a pop bottle. Turn motor over a few seconds a couple times and see if you have fuel pumping into pop bottle. If so reconnect fuel line to carb This is a good start
  5. Lets hope it's not one of those "Start the car and it automatically changes the oil for you out the rear main" bargains. There was a guy at work who had one of these only through the front main. I think it was a QT to get to work and QT to get home.
  6. Well that's better then the motto the electricians on the school were are building have. " We do it right all three times" Enjoy trek. ! Remember me if you see a rear foot rest !
  7. I need to hang this motto in my shop.
  8. My old truck I had a star X wall mount bottle opener screwed to the dash. Can't do that today with plastic dashboards.
  9. I always have my co-pilot hold the wheel. Works good too when you need a bottle opener for your beer that is on the key chain.
  10. I would actually buy this for a back and forth to work car. Been thinking of doing that with some plain jane 51-55 mopar sedan for a couple years now. Nothing ever comes up local. Car just needs to be able to do 60 and I am happy.
  11. So suck out a little brake fluid and mix with DOT 3 and if it stays separated it is 5 correct ?
  12. so dot 3/4 are compatible with each other ?
  13. How can you tell if the fluid in the car is DOT 3 4 5 ?
  14. Is the interior still installed? What has to be put back together beside the motor and trans?
  15. Just imagine what went up down that canal in it's hey-day and your driving past it all. History is a great thing
  16. Found instruction manual on club site. READ READ READ. Bought the parts manual from Amazon 5 minutes ago.. Making connections with great folks which has been the experience of all so far when I started the journey to "find a late 20's - 30's car". Also found out today concrete guy can't pour till saturday Grrr Thankfully I know the owner of the batch plant and can get the 16 yards squeezed in when needed. Too much work here in TX and not anyone skilled to hire anymore to get the work done. New garage scheduled to be installed in 2-3 weeks. Car can ship when that is all completed ! So lots of time to continue learning
  17. Thanks for the invites but being where I am in TX it makes it very hard to get any of the bigger shows
  18. Thanks Walt. I am all about the little things when it comes to authenticity. Spent many years working with and around the History Channel getting their WW 2 portrayals right so I know cutting corners on the one important detail can ruin the entire presentation.
  19. Yes Carl, this pretty impressive actually now that I see it from another angle. The wood wheels are in very good shape so I will scratch wire wheels off the list. At the local shows around here it is very rare to see a pre war car. I show up with my non rodded 49 Road Master and that is usually the oldest one there. Double spares really speaks of crappy 1930's roads for sure ! and of course the car will look more massive then it already is. Carl what are you using to strap them together?
  20. Going over a check list of service items. Can't find a source for the felt pads for the valve train if they need changed out. Anyone know who is making them just in case? And any other parts supplier recommendations for service and repair items not listed on the club board.
  21. cinch straps. Excellent idea. You just made my choice of lifts very easy. Your total ceiling height is 12 ft correct ?
