  1. Has a double mount spare holder in the rear.
  2. I don't know, maybe I offered too much ? I guess i was lucky to make the deal when I did ! Was talking with Bill and Pat for a few weeks as I was getting my ducks and row and had been watching it since January. It took a little shoving from a few club members to understand the value of a side draft car VS a down draft. Almost dragged my feet a little too long it sounds like. My first Franklin and a little over the budget I had set aside but didn't want a project so no regrets.
  3. I ended up buying William and Pat Musto's 151. It had been for sale on the Franklin club board since October. Incredible folks they are. I feel privileged that they chose me to be the next caretaker of their wonderful car. It should be heading my way in about 3 weeks. Everyone should be prepared for a slew of questions. I am thinking of starting a running thread entitled "I just bought a Franklin, what is the first things I should do ?"
  4. Mike can you post pictures of everything you have to this thread please? I really don't know everything I need and maybe some of the other folks who follow me could chime in and make sure I am getting what I do need. Paul explained it pretty well above. Changing to wire wheels and new hubs will I also have to do some brake shoe upgrades as well or are the hubs the same diameter? Thank you! Chris proud new owner of a series 151 sedan.
  5. So what all has to be changed out to go from wood spoke wheels to wire on a series 151 ?
  6. I have tried to find the spot where my rebuilt one does and can't.
  7. That paint on the A looks like it just needs some extra love. My Roadmaster was that dreary before a few hours of work. About the same color too.
  8. The Belle Epoque era is when they liked to go fast too
  9. My grandfather was keen on liberty aircraft engines running booze into sheepshead bay. Twins and nothing could touch them. He said it was lots of fun for a 17 year old. ! Growing up on the south shore of Long Island and around some of the old boat yards I heard stories from many the old baymen who did it.
  10. I can only imagine what the sensation was the first time anyone went 45- 50 mph when the fastest previous speed was in a horse drawn carriage. Trains withstanding as it really wasn't freedom of personal movement. Must have felt like breaking the sound barrier.
  11. I wonder if you could hot rod an 825 Pierce motor today Dual quads or 3 deuces.
  12. NOT MINE. A most interesting body style for sure. And such a huge motor to get only 38 HP. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1919-pierce-arrow-motor-company-model-31/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2019-07-13
  13. Hopefully some 17 year old is going to have a bad ass ride for his upcoming senior year.
  14. John I am putting up a 3 car shop just for really a maintenance garage and want to install a lift for working on both my old cars and my daily drivers. Nothing will be stored underneath it as I already have a five car garage down the hill. One stall for a Franklin and another for my daily driver truck when the Texas hail storms come blowing in. A two post lift would work better for every other vehicle I own. How would it work with a Franklin if I just lifted the car up enough to set it down on jack stands all at the same time?
  15. Where does one acquire kiln dried ash ? Is it anymore stable then poplar ?
  16. Nice car but boy does it need some seals on the tranny done to have any type of a parking brake. I just went through this on my 46 Dodge.
  17. Well the rain finally quit and I am finishing up the final details before pouring the slab for my new garage and in the plans is installing a 2 post lift. It will be a symmetrical lift as I only have 24 feet front to back in that area and with 10 foot walls (I have the option to go 11 or even 12 ft), the plan is to have the post centered on the peak for added height. Now most lift manufactures say this is fine for newer cars and trucks as I will have right around 140 inches front clearance from the center of the post to wall. But I do not know how far forward in inches a Franklin will be from the center of the post to get a balanced lift. So if anyone who uses a two post lift with a Franklin could kindly tell me in a rough measurement how much of the car sits forward from the center of the post it would be greatly appreciated before I go and dig out the footers for the posts at center when in actuality they should be a foot forward or back of center. Also, what is the rough height of a Franklin sedan from running board to roof?

  19. No Franklin projects for me as I am brand new to a Franklin. Now if I had a complete car and a project comes up a year later I would think about it because of having a guide to go off of. At least the motor and trans are intact but you can spend a solid day with a couple helpers laying every part of the linkage and suspension and just doing hardware check off's. I have never taken a car apart down to the bare bones like this and you can only hope the guy who did it had super OCD and bagged and labeled everything
  20. Are the cylinder nuts actually a little taller as well ? and as I look at this car what is the "thing" to the left of the coil and distributor ? Is that crank case ventilation ? and the cables coming through the fire wall?
