I wear the pants in my house and yes, my Wife gave me permission to say that! đ

LOL. I'm pretty sure I can walk faster!

Hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Yes, we own a 2014 version of the Wrangler Unlimited "Willys". We've taken it cross country 3 times, each trip exceeding 6k miles. It already has 144,000 miles on it. They have definitely come a long way.

I'm having a ball with this thing! It yard drives pretty good except little to no brakes. Throwout bearing was making noise at first but seems to be ok after a little running. This Jeep really brings back some memories. I had a buddy back in my late teens-early twenties that had a early 60s Willys CJ5 with the F-Head 4 cylinder. We ran that thing EVERYWHERE like a couple of fools. Then I met my future Wife who had purchased a new 1980 AMC Jeep CJ7. Not a very reliable piece of transportation but lots of fun!! I like antique cars. I like open cars. I like simple cars. I like cars that I can find parts for. I like cars that are fun to drive. I like cars that bring back memories. This Jeep checks all the boxes. Here's a typical spot along the yard crawl route. I think there is around 60 miles of this.

No, I had to go home and get my truck and borrow the trailer from a friend. My 20' enclosed trailer is sitting at home with a 1914 Model T in it! That aluminum tilt-deck trailer is nice too! I may not be in a big hurry to return it! Yes! Photos or it didn't happen! We've heard of that yard sale and would like to do it sometime. Might have to wait a few more years until I retire.

I'm a REALLY lucky guy. My Wife gets as excited over this stuff as I do, maybe more. She Loves antiques, swap meets and car shows. She hates shopping, makeup and blabbing on the phone. đ Not that I associate any of that stuff with what most women like............đ

Yes, mostly original. I like these early Jeeps, they are simple and easy to work on and parts are mostly available. I like Model A Fords for the same reasons. I'll knock out a few dings and dents, fill some "extra" holes, give it a cheap paint job, add some radial tires and a bikini top and enjoy the heck out of it!

Every year in August not far away they have this super long yard sale that is called the "yard crawl". It runs thru the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia along US Rt. 11 from New Market north to Winchester. My Wife and I go every year and usually find a few treasures amongst the clothes, nic-nacs, baby toys and general junk. One year I bought a nice set of five spoke mag wheels and another year I picked up a beautiful cobalt blue service station island light. The past two years however have been less than successful and I think I found nothing of interest. I was willing, but less than enthusiastic when we took off yesterday morning to go fight the traffic and crowds and see what we could find. Very first stop I immediately find this acetylene headlamp in great condition for $20! Hmmmm.....might be a good day after all! Second stop, here was this 1947 Willys CJ2A!! Recently overhauled engine and transmission, and nearly rust free due to coming from out west. Owner had been going thru it and fixing what needed fixing but needed cash because he was starting a business. There were 3-4 other people checking it out when I said "I'll take it!" and they did not seem happy that I beat them to it. It might be hard to top this yard sale day!

Chances are the car doesn't run and may not even have an engine. Probably needs complete interior too. I don't think a hot-rodder would pay 10k for a '37 coupe, it's just not one of the more sought-after years. I think half of that might be in the realm of possibility though. Whether or not it has a title would make a difference too. I just sold a '48 Ford coupe body (no engine) in much better condition for $2,750.00. A '37 is more desirable than a '48 but it's nowhere near a '32-'34 or a '40.

1953 Buick Roadmaster Sedan - sitting under the shed

What you can see still looks pretty solid. Hard to tell what it might be hiding upon closer inspection though. -
Why has the search function on ebay become totally useless?
pkhammer replied to neil morse's topic in General Discussion
I sell quite a bit on ebay. I only list EXACTLY what it is and what it fits and NEVER, EVER put in all of that other BS that they suggest to get more views. and I say shame on sellers that do. My stuff probably get s way less traffic/views but that's ok with me. Ebay surely isn't what it used to be, especially for the poor souls trying to find specific parts. I'm still hanging in there because I still do have fair success selling but certainly understand why potential buyers get turned off. The "vintage automobile parts" category was unfortunately eliminated some time ago. đ -
What I see so far is a clean, likely well restored and maintained car. If the engine compartment and engine bay is any indicator of the rest of the car, it's a nice car! Still wondering how it runs and drives or IF it currently runs and drives. A quick search netted similar cars in good running/driving condition that sold for $30k-$50k. May not be comparing apples to apples totally because some of the higher prices sales were upper end cars. I'll go out on a limb and say $30k-$35k in good running and driving condition and assuming the rest of the car looks as good as what we've seen so far.

Old Car AM Radios -Lots of them!
pkhammer replied to pkhammer's topic in Automobiles and Parts - Buy/Sell
I know, I just hate to junk them. I suppose I need to go thru them and try to identify what they fit or which might be desirable then scrap the rest. -

Looks to be some pretty interesting ones in the bunch. By my count there is between 50 and 60 radios. -
I never realized how diverse the job duties are for our CEO
pkhammer replied to Ray62's topic in General Discussion
I have a lot of respect for Steve. He has done and continues to do much for the AACA, a lot of which goes unnoticed and unappreciated. If I lived anywhere near Hershey I'd be begging him for a job. Maybe doing yard work so he could do more important things? đ -
Is there a market for old car radios? I have a BUNCH of them from the 40's-60's that I need to move along to someone that maybe rebuilds and resells them. If anyone is interested in seeing what I have please send me a PM. Would love to sell as a lot. Price will be -CHEAP!! Can bring to Hershey this fall.

Not an exact match, but pretty similar. Kind of makes me think it must be a Mopar piece.

Thanks for the reply Tom! It came from a collection of parts that was mostly pre-war Ford with a little Dodge sprinkled in. I think I have narrowed it down to 1931-1932 Dodge sedan but cannot find a good photo for reference. If anyone can confirm I'd be grateful!

VanDerBrink will Auction 30+ Trans Ams
pkhammer replied to Crusty Trucker's topic in General Discussion
I was 14 in 1977 and after I saw Smoky and the Bandit, I wanted a Trans-Am bad! I thought they were the coolest cars ever and even surpassed my love of '57 Chevys and Mustang fastbacks. Alas, I am now 60 and have owned none of them. âšī¸ -
