  1. I was pretty sure they were the same as my 34 Dictator as Starlightcoupe's picture shows. I think I have a spare set of NOS however they are my spare set. LOL I can take some measurements from them if I do have them and send them to you to have made. For some reason though, I thought Studebaker PArts.com had them. I'll look and post back here if I find them.
  2. I laughed when I read this because it brought back memories of a meet in the early 80's they had to call in the National Gaurd to pull people out of the mud! LOL
  3. I read in another post that you used a Volvo thermostat? Do you recall which one you used? A part number? Is it a thermostat that mounts under the tube on the cylinder head? I have a 34 Dictator and it is the same engine as yours. I don't believe the car originally came with a thermostat but it makes sense to use one. Your car looks great! Thanks. Derek
  4. Restoration is all a big learning curve, isn't it Herman. One thing I learned about most early cars is they did not have special torques for bolts. They used the standard torque table for all critical bolts. Derek
  5. Thanks. Great to meet you too. Progress is coming along. Can't wait to get some bodywork done now!
  6. Thank you to all those who welcomed Hannah and I with firm hand shakes and long stories and the ASC meet. You are a wonderfully social group willing to provide advice that is greatly appreciated and tell stories that keep smiles and laughs going until the wee hours of the morning. A special thanks to George Rohrbach for the ride in his 22. We both loved it regardless of the wind and cool Temps. It wasn't really all that bad. John Kircher and I had a chance to meet Bob Kapetyn and his warehouse. Wonderfully knowledgeable Studebaker man with a memory of his warehouse and parts that has to be photogenic. He can guide you from memory anywhere in that maze. We even managed to find some parts for our 34's. Next is Andy Hook. Yes he is still around and just as full of great stories and advice as ever. Although he is not on this forum he has become an advisor, mentor and parts supplier when I am most in need. Thanks. To round off my week after driving home the 9 hrs, I immediately dug into my 34. Brake shoes and drums installed. Tired swapped onto my wheels and engine transmission married and installed in the chassis. A very successful week. Thanks again to you all. ❤ Derek Phillips
  7. ❤ I showed Hannah the picture and a big smile took over her face! Thank you George!
  8. Thanks. I am really excited to go. My Daughter and I will bum any ride we can as we aren't bringing a car this year. Riding in an old Stude would bring the biggest smile kn her face! Derek
  9. Thanks Rex! I think I will continue to use it. Judging by the measurements of mine comparing to new assuming JFranklins numbers are the same as a new one for my Stude it is less than 1/2 used. See you in South Bend!
  10. I was on their site last night for universal joints for my 34. Thanks. Might be a real expensive order from them. LOL
  11. Thanks for checking. I'm not far off your new clutch measurement then. I'd call it used but not worn out. Gives me a little more confidence to put it in and look for a new one for the future.
  12. I don't have a clutch to measure. I'll ask some people while at the Nationals in a couple of weeks and see what info I can gather. If I can find a new clutch I'll buy it regardless.
  13. I'd got.050" until rivet contact on each side. How much approximately is on a new clutch?
  14. Are there any specs for clutch plate wear available for early 30s Studes? Mine looks a bit worn but I think will still function but I would figure there should be a go/no go thickness for them? Specifically it's for a 34 Dictator. Thanks
  15. Good to hear. Mine took alot of convincing to come out. Not sure if from rust or just a tight fit.
  16. Thanks for the info guys. It gives me some confidence in what I'm seeing inside. The input bearing seems to be the only one with wear. There is no rust from. Water ingress so I'm safe there. I have a feeling there was a slight lack of lube from a leak which might explain the one bad bearing.
  17. I'm guessing by the plethora of responses they are fairly bullet proof. 😁😉
  18. There is a lot of leverage needed to pull them down and connect them. I'm sure you found they spring back real easy though. 😁 Glad you figured it out.
  19. Thanks. I looked yesterday at the site and there is no info about the meet. I'm looking for a first hand experience impression.
  20. I will be attending this year's National meet specifically for the ASC portion. My 14 year old Daughter is excited ti come with me. ❤ Are there planned events? Is there a swap meet? Is there a place to bring a camper trailer to stay nearby? I've been to Hershey and Carlisle many times albeit a decade or more ago. Is it similar? Thanks
  21. Are there any common failures or wear out parts on these transmissions? I planned on just flushing it out but the output bearing seems to have more slop than I like so I'm replacing it. . While I'm in there I want to be sure there's not a common failure to address.
  22. Nice car. Scoop it up or I'll find a way too. LOL this is my 34. Quite a few differences between 34 and 35. There are certainly not many of them.
  23. I have a fill plug on my 34 Dictator. I would thi k you would as well. As for oil I'm pretty sure mine calls for 90w gear oil.
