  1. I am not sure if I have one of those shops but there are local dealers that deal in seals, bearings and industrial supplies that I can find something. All of the seals will be hidden from view so it should not affect the level of authenticity I am hoping to achieve but original design would be my first choice.
  2. Beautiful work. I get a little tingle of excitement seeing this. It reminds me of what all my hard work and money will eventually produce. I am just at the stage of restoring axles to put on a bare frame. LOL
  3. Just finished inspecting, assembling and rigging the rear axle for my 34 Dictator Coupe. All bearing gs are in good shape except the axle bearings which I can locally source. The seals on the other hand are long gone. I need the axle shaft seals (listed as leather) and the pinion shaft seal. Anyone have a source for NOS , new or has anyone used a modern rubber seal if I can find one that matches the size application I need. Ive searched the usual Stude International etc but none make seals for mine. Thanks for the help. I'll post up PN when I get home later if that helps.
  4. Thanks for the advice. Yes it is most definately being restored original. Search Facebook for 34.stude.dictator.coupe for my restoration page. When I was just 10 years old I convinced my father to not hotrod it and make it original. He never touched it again but spent many weekends walking Hershey and Carlisle in the 80's looking for parts. Dad has been gone 21 years and I am finally starting the restoration I have dreamt about for so long.
  5. If you have shoes and all the hardware too I'm interested in it all. I dont have any that are salvageable if I cant source out new ones and have to get pads put on them.
  6. Just measured mine now and yes they are 1 3/4" linings. If you have a set of fronts and a set of rears that would be awesome. No rush and I can find a way to come and get them or find another option.
  7. Thanks for the picture. That at least lets me know what it should look like. I will keep an eye on the thread for any other information people might add.
  8. I'm interested in people's reply to this. My 34 doesnt even have a floor. What kind and thickness of plywood is it, or is it a hardwood?
  9. I'll measure it but I'd put money on mine being 1 3/4" because its Canadian after the listed SN.
  10. From my Studebaker parts book it appears that there are no other years that crossover with mine. To make things more challenging mine is a Canadian build that says it has a 1-3/4" brake. I'm not sure what they are referring to with this size. The axle shaft is 1-1/4". Drum ID is 11" and space between opposing bolts is 4-3/4". I'll upload some pics once I resize them.
  11. Thanks. I will get pictures in the morning. Mine are very rough so measurements are a challenge.
  12. Hello all, I am at the start of full restoration on my 34 Dictator Coupe. This winter I hope to have a full rolling chassis assembled and restored. The one certain roadblock to achieving that is all of my brake drums are cracked and not usable. If anyone can lead me in the right direction to tracking down a salvageable set, I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. PM me or post here. Studebaker Part numbers are: Drum Front Right 182579 Drum Front Left 182580 Drum Rear Right 182581 Drum Rear Left 182582 Thanks in advance. Derek
