  1. Can silicone brake fluid be added to regular brake ?
  2. I tried one like that and hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to it and couldn't to go lower than 3.5 or so,everyone on a v.w. forum said that my kadrone carbs. shouldnt get more than 2.5. It's not running bad though without one. Maby I should just go with it or try another regulator.
  3. Could a regular brass or steel fuel shut off valve be used to regulate fuel pressure? Seems it would be cheaper than a regular one. Just curious. Thanks
  4. The second electric fuel pump works well but the pressure regulator I bought, not so good.I can't get it below 3p.s.i. and I heard it should run around 2. I bought a cheap one that I thought would work.
  5. Is ethanol gas o.k.to use in a air cooled v.w.?
  6. I pulled the sending unit on top of the tank to have a look and since the car was jacked up on one side there wasn't any fuel in the line to the pump.Duh!
  7. I got under the car enough today to remove the electric pump and tested from a gas can and battery charger and it didn't work so I exchanged it for another one which I tested before I installed it and it works! Only question I have is on the gas hose going from the bottom of the tank to the pump I unhooked it from the old pump and no gas ran out. There is some gas in the tank, probably less than a gallon. Shouldn't it run out? I hope the new pump will have enough suction to pull the gas through it.My tank is vented. The fitting in the bottom of the tank makes a 45 degree bend and then goes down to the pump.I don't know, wish me luck.Thanks,Greg.
  8. I know,no offense taken.I thought I'd get more viewers with my original title.Anyway that air leak is frustrating.I hope the j-b weld holds.
  9. Thanks,I disconnected the lines going into the carburetors and the right carb.was barely dripping fuel into it and the left carb.was worse. It runs good off of a remote gas can with the manual pump.I can't diagnose the electric pump because of a malfunction in the air ride system. It spring an air leak and the car's on the ground and I'm unable to raise it up,too low for a Jack to fit.Always something!
  10. Working on my boy's 69 Karman Ghia with an air ride suspension. One of the dash panels sprung an air leak that seems to be coming from one or two of the t fittings I replaced them with metal ones ,still leaks.I removed the panel and j-b welded the crap out of them and now I'm letting it cure for 48 hours.I hope that works. If not I think I'll just go with 1/4" brass t barbed fittings with locktite. Before the leak down I installed an electric fuel pump which he wanted under the front of the car by the gas tank.It runs but barely trickles out of the lines by the carbs.( The left carb.not much if any).It runs good off of a separate gas tank and the manual pump, but I have to get the car up off the ground to see what the problem is with the electric pump.Maby its a clogged fuel line or the pump is bad. If it were me I'd of left the stock suspension and the manual pump.Maby some blue pills would work, just kidding.Greg.
  11. I'm my old v.w. I was thinking of injecting some evap-o-rust in the steel fuel line that runs through the tunnel then flushing it out.Do you think it would work or would carburetor cleaner be better? Thanks
  12. I installed an electric fuel pump on my son's 69 Ghia. I know that the fuel pressure should be @ 2 lbs. Anyway should the pump stay running after the carb. bowls fill up? Thanks,Greg.
  13. I'm putting an electric fuel pump in my son's 69 Ghia because he wanted to go with an electric one.The pump has a filter on it.I wonder if I still need the one that goes on the tank fitting. It's missing.Thanks,Greg.
  14. O.k. Thanks for understanding. It's just that I'm unable to do it with this handheld thing from amazon.I probably could from the P.C.but my wife's usually on it.

I wonder if anyone on the forum drove the old hwy 30 Lincoln route. I saw it on the way to Hershey and thought that might be quite an adventure. My home town in Illinois is right on that hwy.Now I live in Florida right close to u.s.1. Hmmm, maby someday I'll drive it to Canada?
