  2. People complain about the lack of room in vehicles of this era but it's no worse that a cheap airline seat and I have lots of hours in those.
  3. I used to live in a little town where the local mortician leased out the back of his business to a guy who did car repair. He would sometimes use the hearse to chase parts. I thought about this one in that role but I'd hate to damage all that red velvet!
  4. Cute car with a pretty high price...I really just posted it so I could say I remember a contemporary road test with the best title ever: " Hark, the Herald Axles Swing". https://slo.craigslist.org/cto/d/atascadero-1964-triumph-herald/7648960600.html# Very nice running little Triumph Herald. Fun around town, leisure cruising. Very dependable and mechanicaly in great shape. We've enjoyed for years but now time to move on to new owners. We're downsizing and not going to have garage space for this little gem. Please contact me for more information and or pictures. I'm taking a loss at $16,000 asking price but will entertain offers as it needs to go. My loss your gain! 805 674-6338 leave message

  8. Here's a link to the current ad. I feel a bit sorry for the sellers...I'm sure a lot of their late father is tied up in the car. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/santa-rosa-1931-plymouth-pa-thrift/7649711562.html email: 3573b1dda275342ab39b5519ede592cb@sale.craigslist.org As previously noted, not running and a incorrect features, beginning with the painted radiator surround, which would be expensive to put right.

  11. I believe starting in '68. A sure sign is if it has an alternator. There are no positive ground alternators, as far as I know. I've been looking at MGBs here in California, and a fair price for a good driver is $8K. One piece of advice about used cars someone gave me long ago; Look at the car but also the owner! Are they someone who seems like they cared for it? Is it some one you'd want to buy a used car from? 50 years ago I owned a small company that allowed people to buy on credit and I learned "the vibes are never wrong".
  12. I don't know about the price but it certainly looks nice! More pictures in ad.... https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/rocklin-1938-cadillac-coupe/7636177920.html This is a frame of restoration of a very rare series 60 coupe . Car runs a drives like new. This car is worth much more than this but health forces sale. Please text or call only. (916) 626-2339
  13. I remember when "self service" first came in. I thought "Who'd want to pump their own gas, just to save a couple of pennies a gallon". I also thought selling water in a bottle was a crazy idea.
  14. Rod knock...I guess a trip to the babbitt works would be required. https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/d/tucson-1917-hupmobile/7632808831.html 1917 Hupmibile model 'N' 5 passenger touring car. ran and drove well, till a rod started knocking. The little paint on it is original. (520) 603-0753

  17. I'm with you, DrumBob! '71 was bad but by the mid 70's we were in an absolute low point in American cars, in my opinion. They had huge engines that got abysmal mileage, yet produced little power. MY mother's LTD II had what looked like part of a small steel drum under the hood between the engine and the radiator, who's sole purpose was to make the hood (and the car) longer. Inside, the back seat was certainly not spacious. That said, there is the "so bad it's good" effect. I wouldn't mind a Cadillac Cimarron or AMC Gremlin, with an Aztec for road trips.
  18. Seems a very nice example... https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/novato-1947-frazer-manhattan/7633279233.html Nicely restored 1947 Frazer Manhattan. 19. I remember these...an interesting idea that was sort of Japanese mechanical reliability with with British interior trim. Much better than the reverse.
  20. Here's a different ad. I guess they just picked 1927 because it had to be around there....Too bad the pictures aren't better. Engine resembles 4cyl Chrysler but the dash looks different. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/d/el-granada-1927-project-car/7633362067.html 1927 project car.I don't know what make or model it is. i don't have any other information.selling as is . bring trailer selling for $3,900 cash no trades. selling with bill of sale 65o 79 6- 44o3
  21. Yes! I remember their ad where Ellis him self said "I'll give you five pounds of Hills Brother's Coffee if you can beat our deal". Not exactly "betting the ranch".
  22. My friend the Facellia owner pointed out lots of mis-information in this ad. He says over a thousand were produced and there was no such thing as a recall in this period. The original engines were repaired by the factory to start and then most were converted to Volvo. The Chevy V8 must be significantly heavier than the original and about 3 times as powerful so it would take a lot of re-engineering. Here's a better picture of this model:
  23. A Facellia is related to a Facel Vega as a Mercedes 190SL is related a 300SL, with a corresponding price points. I remember looking at a 190SL with Ford 289 in it back about 1972. That was a very bad idea and so is this. Looks like this car could still become a nice example of a Facellia, but that's a $+/-50K car. (More pics in ad but they aren't good) https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/santa-rosa-1961-facel-vega-facellia/7633263789.html 1961 Facel Vega Facellia ll Convertible Roadster. Only 320 ever made. It was made in Paris. This is a classic, rare car that has been stored in northern California for the past 25 years. It has less than 5000 miles on it. We have all the parts, all the chrome pieces and all the upholstery and a bunch of extras. There's too much to list but you can see in the photos all the items we have. The motor installed is a 350 Chevy Z28 350350 hp 4 bolt Mains, but you'll have to finish hooking it up. The transmission has been upgraded to GM 5 speed. We have a 12 volt Chevy Posi. Its been narrowed and has Henry axles and 456 gears. FYI, 60 years ago these Facel Vegas were recalled from the factory because they were sold with bad four cylinder engines. The buyers were offered a choice of engines from Volvo, Austin Healey, Sprite, Austin Martin and Chevy. This car ended up at Alice Brooks Chevrolet on Van Ness Ave and got a small block installed Chevy in it, I bought the car from David Ford as he was in the process of putting an original four-cylinder back in the car. He had a heart attack and died. And I bought it from his widow. It has been parked in the corner of my shop from 1993. I worked on it occasionally. The car is black with red leather, silver hard top and original 2100 miles. Due to illness I have to sell the car. It’s a cherry car and the paint is excellent and so is the chrome. Interior is excellent too. I’m unable to complete the car so I’m selling it as a project. (415) 652-8009
