  1. Maybe Im biased but I think full size cars from the 60's and 70's are a good value. Nobody wants the big boat sedans so theyre cheap and alot of them were made so parts are pretty easy to get. I guess theyre not good on gas which was one of the factors in the post but you get a lot of car for your dollar. You could get A Body GM cars with a 6, so maybe something like that would be good. A Body's are Malibu's, Cutlass's, Skylark's and stuff like that. Maybe not many left with a 6 but I bet theyre out there and it would be real neat to finally see one that doesnt have a v8.
  2. THere's alot of questionable things done to cars over the years. I dont worry about it too much as long as someone is having fun with their car I think its all good. We have all seen that car at a cruise in where we cant believe someone wants it but there it is. You see "tacky" stuff in stores and in peoples houses and you let it go so why are cars different? All tastes are different and unless its something that is only one of a kind I dont worry about modifications. LIfes too short.
  3. And a 2.2 cc engine with a dual carburetor exuast. You would think the guy's at Hagerty would know this kinds of things. I hope they get the car back.
  4. One my neighbors sold his Audi back in the day when they were having the unexpected acceleration problem because he was scared of it happening to him. I think nothing ever came from it but Audis reputation was pretty smeared. Personally I dont think its anything but someone standing on the wrong pedal. What else could it be??? I agree that there arent many cars that can use their engines to overpower the breaks especailly at low speeds. Sometimes you see kids doing it by flooring the gas and the brake at the same time and only the rear tires spin but the car doesnt move. I bet the old guy driving the Jeep his brain was saying BRAKES BRAKES BRAKES!!! and his leg was saying I AM I AM I AM!!! and his mouth was saying OH CRAP OH CRAP OH CRAP!!!! Mean while his foot was hard on the gas the whole time.

Why put in a smaller motor with less torque in such a big heavy car? Just because you think its easier to work on doesnt mean its better. I have a friend in the oldsmobile club who put a 350 crate in his 58 98 hard top and the car got SLOWER!!! He doesnt like driving it anymore so it sits mostly. He wont say why but everyone knows he knew he made a mistake with the motor and now nobody will buy it either.
  6. I use halogen bulbs in my 55 olds and saw a bit of an improvement but it wasnt huge. Of course that was with seal beams already. I did notice that it showed more discharge at red lights but it was charged back up after driving. I think newer cars (at least from the 1930s?) with regulators are better than old cars with just a brush type system that only pushes a fixed amount. I never worried about the discharge amount on the gage because it was never discharging long enough to hurt the battery and it would be charged back up in a few seconds of driving. Dynaflash8 I bet your car would be ok even if it showed discharge at idle I think thats normal as long as it charged back up after you were driving and eventually the gage goes back to 0 which shows the regulator is working right.
  7. Maybe sometimes a seller is waiting to see what a buyer is willing to pay? That sounds harsh but maybe they just dont know and hope that a good offer will come in. I once bought a 1955 Oldsmobile from a guy who didnt advertize a price but when I called he said what sounds fair to you and I gave him a number and he accepted it. So sometimes it works out. Maybe he would have taken less but I was happy with the deal.
  8. Doesnt imperial mean it should have a glass window between driver and passenger? That would be interesting.
  9. I have been looking for something like this for a while not a Hispano but its interesting. Have you personally seen, inspected, and driven this car? I see it is in Spain but you are in in the US. Do you have direct experience with this car?? Also as just a tip but your website has lots of popups that make it hard to read and some are bad enough that I have to close the site and reopen it.
