  1. Yes it was. Deluxe I believe. His new car, hot threads and a big ol stogie. I can remember my grandad always having a fat cigar in his mouth also. Fresh off the boat.
  2. I worked for a company similar to this here in south Florida. He takes people's life long dream car, gets a huge deposit, disassembled the car, then it sits, and sits, and sits. To the point the customer is literally stuck. Too much invested in the deposit to yank the car. Then when fed up they think about having to move the car as a basket case which most other shops won't touch and if they do, won't guarantee prior work that's been completed or that all the parts were received from previous shop. This happened with 99.9% off all the vehicles that came to this shop. When I came there as manager co-workers told me they had painted about 2 cars in the prior 2 1/2 years. I proceeded to pull 11 dusty cars from the recesses of the shop, complete the body and paint so they could go to the mechanical side and sit there for another year of excuses by the shop owner as to why the customer's car sat some more. I was able to deliver 9 of those 11 in the 2.5 years I was there before I just had to resign. Not able to take the heartbreak I watched these people go thru and the lies from the shop owner blatantly stealing their money. The longer it sat, the more money he charged either for things that weren't actually completed or for things that had to be completed several times over. Unfortunately this happens in this industry quite frequently. Thankfully I got out of there and got with an honest productive shop. I had thought I could make a difference when I first went to this "Graveyard", which I did for a while, but ended up being defeated by greed and deception. So don't get too far behind the 8 ball before you cut ties. Too many people end up buried too far to dig themselves out of the situation their "Classics" ends up being in. The terminal "Classic Graveyard". Not just here in Hollywood Florida, but all over. Good luck.
  3. If the tag is original and readable with no damage or touch ups, they will approve. The difficulty is when restoring. It does not have to be the correct county you live in or weight designation. I got the original green color from my paint store hand tinting a color to match the back of my tags which were rich and shiny. I ended up with 2 Florida tags yet neither looked good enough in their original condition. Borderline at best. I can have it inspected at the local Florida DMV here in Broward. Luckily one of my plates is in fact for Broward county "10" and the correct weight designation "D". I'm still perfecting the rolled letter issue. I am doing one and another artist friend is doing the "10 D" tag. When finished, if mine passes inspection, I'll have another I can sell. I think it's Penellis county. "4 D" They should both be finished this month. Fingers crossed. Thanx for all the information, experiences and interest.
  4. This is a photo of my mother's cousin who was from Italy showing off his brand new car. Complete with side curtains. It was said he got it with the bells and whistles of the day. Posing dressed to the nines on his momentous occasion. Photo was taken in New Jersey. Most likely Camden. It was a much different neighborhood then.
  5. Could you add the Bentley to your list please? If you can pass the owners contact info along, please do as I like dealing directly with the owners directly. I hope if I were able to finalize a transaction you would accept a finders fee for your efforts. If we vacation up that way, are you allowed to bring along visitor to view the cars first hand? Thanx for any help you can provide. Pix, condition, price and tech info on Bentley please.
  6. I don't think it's a bare rim. Enlarging the photo it seems to be thin solid bands of rubber. But who knows...
  7. Is the one with the European plate a Bentley? And is it still there? Either way if it's there can you get as price and info on that and the white Cadillac convertible? Thanks for helping everyone that's interested.
  8. I still need 2 of the housings. Faster to text me results to 9545581382 or email to STEELBREEEEZE@AOL.COM. THANX
  9. I'm searching for a set of garnish moldings for the rear quarter windows for our 1947 Windsor club coupe. Any condition will do as I have the ability to restore and refinish them. Our.Chrysler came back from the upholstery shop missing them. Really sucks! If you have any leads we'd be extremely grateful. I'm also looking for 1 driver side swan neck cowl mounted mirror. Thanx again.
  10. So wassup with the tinted one? If I don't do exchange with Domi, what do you want for your tinted one
  11. Mine are not broken and the only thing I worry about is sealing out the weather. I'd prefer to have the tinted ones so it's possible we could do a swap. Can you take a picture out the lens installed in the housing? I could go either way on the colors tho. Which is your preference?
  12. Can you send a couple pix of condition of a set please? I can polish and repaint letters but don't want then too beat up. Even though it will be my daily driver.
  13. Looking for a set of 4 good condition hub caps and beauty rings. Possibly original 15" rims also with good price package deal.
  14. I never received the pm. I'm still interested if they are around. Can you just text me at 9545581382. I have both for my car but one is clear and one has a slight purple tint. Sorry for the late reply but I haven't been on the site for a while.
  15. You say yours do not match? I have a set for my 47 the same way. One is crystal clear and the other has a slight purple tint. Let me know if yours are similar and maybe we could swap one. I was going to try and find another tinted one and get rid of the clear one. They are both in good condition.
  16. Looking for 2 dome light housings without lens'. Just need the mount housing with bulb socket. Condition can be fair. Surface rust ok. Solid steel and socket preferred.
  17. In the Florida DMV requirements for using year of manufacture plates in their very strict requirements on restored plates it states that the numbers must be "rolled on". Does anyone know how critical this is or even exactly what they mean. I can only think to use an ink roller and try to apply in that manner but to make that perfect on something that isn't exactly new might look a little sloppy. Has anyone encountered this and had a plate pass their hand inspection? Also does anyone have a code for the exact green used on 1947 florida plates? Here's a quote from their website. "It must not be bent or torn and can not be touched up in any way. Slight rust is acceptable if the plate can be read from 100 feet away. Excellent professional restorations are now accepted and the judgement of the DMV office is very strict. The original color of the plate must match exactly and the paint must be "rolled" on the numbers"
  18. If they are still around I am interested in the best 2. Thanx
  19. I have NOS middle and lower whiskers and am looking for a descent set of upper whiskers for my grill. Also could use the upper middle molding for the center part of the grill. Couple other things still needed for my club coupe so if anyone knows of one being parted please pass the word. Thanx in advance. I'm very anxious to finally get this Windsor on the road in its original glory.
  20. I do have an extra set. Not perfect but better than average for originals. I'll have to get by my warehouse and uncover them if you are interested. Aged pot metal doesn't handle the strip tank of s chrome plater very well. Especially if brittle
