  1. Maybe too clean. Rebuilt motor? It has been on the market for over a month. Maybe the price is too high or something catastrophic. I will call the guy tomorrow.
  2. My only concern about the 6 cylinder is the ability to tow a heavy load for an extended period of time about 7000lbs. I do know how to test the obd1 system with a price of wire and watching the check engine light. Below is the truck that I am looking at. If I can get it for the right price. About 5k. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-ford-f150-4x4-classic/6674316974.html
  3. The starter the broke at the Wisconsin meet worked by starting and generating. That one was a NOS I got. I was driving under normal conditions ( at the time it was raining) btw that was the last time I saw rain apparently here I California it never rains. When I tried to start the car after the tour of the packaging plant it did not start or generate. At the shop in school I do have access or equipment that I don’t know how to use. It may be helpful. The only thing I have done is take off that back plate/band off and clean the commutator. Should I use a brass brush or sandpaper. I only used a rag and electrical cleaner. What should I disassemble? Should I order new brushes from the Myers?
  4. As I am getting older, the ripe old age of 19, I am going to start to invest in a truck and trailer. I am currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am looking for a truck to bring my car to shows like the next national meet in Missouri. I have been looking at a ford 7.3l diesel and a 4.9 in-line 6. I only have 6k to my name. I have found an excellent 1993 f150 5 speed with an overdrive 3.55 rear axle and tow package with 168k on the inline 6. This is a single cab bench seat fully loaded. Power windows rear abs power steering etc. would.this vehicle be a good daily, to go to work and school, and a good vehicle to tow a 20ft enclosed trailer to the other side of the country. Or do I need a diesel. Since money is tight I most likely will not find an aluminum trailer for 2k. What do the experts have to say?? Matthew
  5. Hello everyone I am taking an automotive class at my local community college. For my project I would like to repair my starter generator. My arm is getting sore. I have two. The original from the car was starting but not generating. The current one in the car does nothing except make me sad. I have no idea what I am doing so any information will help. I am horrible at anything electronic. Which is ironic because I am 19.
  6. Or maybe a shop for rent. As I don’t have a place to work in my car.

  12. I am trying to go to the national meet this year but I am having a hard time finding transport for my car. I will be coming from Western CT 06877 and going to Green Bay Wisconsin 54304. I want the car to arrive on Sunday, June 17. The car must go in a enclosed trailer. I am trying to do this for under a grand. Since I am 18 and I only make minimum wage it is very hard to do the shows. If anyone has any information on how I can get my car there safely let me know. I have a 1926 Dodge type a sedan. The interior of the car will have some stuff to transport for the swap meet on the Friday of the show. One way travel 8458005333 pst

  15. I also have a 26 sedan and my gas gauge face has peeled off revealing the same face but made out of brass. Also the magnet inside that holds the pointer is crappy at best. Tiny screws hold the entire assembly from falling in. (Many a time I had to fish out the assembly. I use a wooden dowel that I machined and color coded as a fuel gauge.
  16. I know someone who has a pair of rear fenders. They are willing to sell them. Contact Maggie Schmidt the club historian.
  17. Hello all I was wondering if it would be a good idea to invest in a dash cam. Besides using if for hit and runs you can also use it to video tape a tour. They have all kinds of fancy ones that are reasonably priced. Or plain and simple ones. They even have ones for the rear, that you can use when backing up. Before buying one of theses (around $100) I wanted to think what the car community thought.
  18. My car was completely restored in the 80s by somebody who did not know what a wrench is. They replaced everything and I am trying to get it back to factory Original. By replacing the wires with the proper cloth ones and a cloth wiring harness. And anything else that is not factory original.
  19. I am not looking for any sizes in particular Just a bucket full of rusty old bolts
  20. This is the gear oil I used. I paid $84 including shipping in June of 2015. I don’t have the bucket because I put it in an old gear oil bucket to look period. But I checked my card statement and found this charge. 06/03 Red Drum Trading Inc 732-882-3849 NJ Card 7567 $84.00. After a quick google search I found this oil. I would call the industrial Lubricant supply company directly to get a better price. Or you can get NLGI 0000 which is heavier. If you are in a warm climate. Do not forget to use Lucas oil stabilizer additive. It clings to the gears and helps lube the transmission. I also put a zinc additive because modern oils don’t have it anymore. I also use Valvoline® VR1 Racing Oil - SAE 60 Summer SAE 30 Winter It states High zinc/phosphorus provides extreme wear protection, including flat tappet applications Additional friction modfiers to help deliver maximum horsepower Enhanced anti-foam system protects engine during extreme stress Compatible with gasoline or alcohol fuels I hope this helps Matthew https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0288/5248/files/EP000-Pail-PDS.pdf
  21. How much do you want for everything dodge related.
  22. Personally, I think a little water never hurt anyone. The engine is designed to get a little wet. After all many people did not have a garage to store them in and drove in all weather to get to work. In fact there are many advertisements about the “dependabilty” of Dodge Brothers. The spark plug wells often get filled with water. As long as the hood is closed the engine will be fine in a hurricane/ automated car wash. Especially since the engine is freshly painted. Good luck Matthew
  23. I hope this helps. This is from Dyke’s automobile and gasoline engine encyclopedia 12 edition.
  24. I am looking for original DB bolts. Just another one of those find details to make everything original. matthew
  25. Hello I will begin painting soon. I will not do the painting myself, I will have it done professionally. The color I want is dodge brothers blue 1. I do not know what the original black was. To have it as original as possible I do not know what type of finish to have I.e. matte or glossy. I also do not know what type of paint they used from the factory. Weather it lacquer or enamel or some other kind. Thank you matthew
