  1. Yea,Mike. You'd think OLD CARS would have their cartoon character Otto saying something about his appetite every time he gets around these lights. I'm showing some 1920's Ahrens Fox firetrucks with these lights. I think the last pair I had went to a firetruck.
  2. Thanks DR for putting that photo on. With some searching I found my copy of The V8 Affair and it shows the same dash as in yours. But I have looked this chrome piece of mine over very carefully and I think it belongs on this grill. The curve is perfect, the top of the chrome where it angles over the grill is a perfect fit, four points in the back that come through the grill line up perfectly with a slot, one with a "quick nut",the bolt hole in the bottom is right where you would think it would be if they were made for each other. I've taken some pictures to back me up. I'm wondering if it might be a late year, early year thing.
  3. I looked,it says listing has expired. Do you know where it was?
  4. Ford guys can probably ID this one in their sleep but I can't find a picture of it. Numbers 4878 J 11 7004352 Appreciate any help.
  5. The front section looks Autocar but I don't know if they were ever chain drive.
  6. I'll bet it makes 8 miles per hour whatever it is.
  7. In some circles they were called "pancake headlights with pieplate lenses".
  8. Like Grimy says, the secret to these is clean fuel. On this small gas tank, there is nothing in my memory bank at all on it,never with a vacuum tank. It looks heavy duty with extra large threaded outlets. Some large diesel tractors have a pony motor that you start up to turn the high compression diesel motor over. The pony motor would be gasoline fired and would take a small, separate tank on this order. As soon as the big motor started the little guy would be shut down. Hopefully it would start.
  9. To answer your other question,it gets vacuum from the intake manifold, sucks gas out of the gas tank and gravity feeds it to the carb.
  10. Many Chevrolets used that teens into the 20's if memory serves. I don't know if other makes used it or not.
  11. Thanks. I thought these looked like the ones on the lower left pictured hubcap but must be a little different.
  12. Layden says it's a 1919 era Pierce combination generator and distributor. Thanks Layden.
  13. Hi Layden, There is nothing in my current email about this or a PM of any kind. I presently have a gmail address,if you're sending to that old skybeam it's going into never-never land somewhere. Oldtech-here are some more pics. Not exactly points but maybe a predecessor, those pins contact that little springloaded nub in that cup for make and break action I guess. Also a number under it,looks like 37523 C Thanks for encouraging me to check it out.
  14. I looked it all over,it has WESTINGHOUSE cast into one of the end plates, other than that I can't see any other numbers or letters cast or stamped in anywhere which seems a bit unusual. It has the three insulated terminals on the top end,two more of the advance/retard rocker, then just a couple plain wires going in the lower side. The main body is about 8 1/8" tall,5 3/4" front to back,4 3/8" thick. That thin, open gear on the end has me stumped. Appreciate any help.
  15. We had a '63 Chevy chassismount motorhome many years ago, neat old truck, lots of fun. We were out Discovering Wyoming and it started missing and sputtering. Stopped in a city park about 300 miles from home and started checking things out. It had a pretty fresh tuneup and all that looked good,no obvious problems. The fuel pump was the old type that had screws holding it together,I took the bottom part off and there was a piece of rubber from somewhere in the seat keeping the fuel from building up. I took it out,put it back together and it ran fine again from then on. I might also mention the diaphragm in some of those old pumps can get hard and start cracking which always leads to a problem. The condenser is there to mainly keep the points from arcing as they open. If the condenser is bad and they do arc generally one side of the points will build up which changes the spark. I If that is the case you may have to file and reset or replace them. Good luck.
  16. Looks like genuine original 33 Chevrolet to me.
  17. That looks really close, you may have nailed it. If it was a left rear I presume it would have had taillight mounting holes but not on the right. There is not a single bolt or washer track around a single bolt hole in this fender,it has never been bolted in. I live in dry Wyoming,I can't explain the rust, but it must have spent most of its life in a humid area.
  18. I have three of these if that would help. They have some acne but a good polishing would help. No tits broke off and screw holes look good. $65 for the three ppd.
  19. I'm pretty sure I bought this one at Hershey many years ago when I used to go. I was collecting Cadillac parts and this one is really close, but it doesn't have a square bottom. With 1700 miles of interstate lag and lack of sleep I couldn't decide for sure. It's not Cad but best guess now is Kissel. It's about 40 3/4" front to back not counting the runningboard angle iron, about 10 1/4" wide,10 1/2 at front end. Appreciate any input.
  20. It's about 21 x 36,appears to be almost too big for the brackets. You unscrew a bolt on each side to stand it up or lay it down and screw other bolts into it to keep it in that position. I guess it would be okay for a couple suitcases, you wouldn't want to load your anvil collection and head for the tractor show. The brackets bolt either to the back of a body like a depot hack or maybe a raised bumper back brace. Appreciate any help.
  21. I called the listed 1928 expert in the Vintage Chevrolet Club and he agrees, all 28 cars had the aluminum shell, only the trucks had steel. So I stand humbly corrected. I have a 28 radiator,28 aluminum shell, three inserts and a handful of 28 emblems so that's really good to know.
  22. I can't picture a Buick wheel with only four lugs, always six or more in my failing memory.
  23. It looks like the shadows of eight exhaust header pipes coming out into that collector pipe so it should be a straight 8 under the hood. That may narrow it down a bit.
  24. I have a couple that have KLAXON on the label along with LOVELL M CONNELL MFG Co. They are fairly early and definitely for the higher end cars.
