I sped on over to Kansas from Cali in my bucket of bolts Riv & snuck into Ed’s house to steal these pix while he was napping off the effects of his pain pills.
just kidding. Collected one from Russ Martin’s site & Chris Nolan gave me the other. My kickdown & SP never worked. A buddy suggested we get it all back to stock & working right before we add this aux switch. So I’ve been enjoying the stock setup for now. Aux switch coming soon haha
Ed: hope the leg is ok & u don’t need pain pills.

6) I am scared to death about taking these window regulators apart & messing up the alignment. I read it’s a PITA to get them all back together correctly. So I did the bare minimum to pull the motors & had Steve rebuild them too.
I also bought new mohair liner rubber liner for the front & rear window channel. Wing window rubber seems in good condition
All my rollers are in good shape. None are broken. A little WD freed up some of the rollers that felt tight
I plan to replace the plastic grommet where the side view mirror remote cable passes thru. Looks like a standard grommet from the parts store will work.

4) When I pulled my steering column out I noticed there wasn’t anything keeping engine heat & road grime from finding its way thru my steering & into the passenger space. So I cut 1” foam into a donut shape & shoved it in there. A little wheel bearing grease helped steering shaft spin smoothly.
I should’ve paint the column…I was lazy ?

2) Finally got a rebuilt “quicker” ratio steering box. My original box was 3-5/8 turns (lock to lock). It’s been said multiple times on this forum that if the number of turns on the input shaft (lock to lock) are 3 or less with the steering box on the workbench then the number of turns (lock to lock) will be less once the steering box is installed.
My first hand experience proves that info is NOT true.
Rebuilt steering box was 3 turns (lock to lock) on my workbench. Guess what it was once installed…yup…3 turns (lock to lock) ?
But at least I don’t have a leak anymore…?

wife gets fed up with the project and informs the restorer that from now on it is her way or the highway
This pretty much sums up the rumor I last heard about Rob J’s build…not sure of details

Sorry to hear about your loss. I’m sure the GOAT had nothing to do with it…haha

Nice pix. I did the same thing to mine a couple months ago. I wish I could add to your pix. But I was more excited that I got the switch to work & wanted to install it for a test drive that I forgot pix ??♂️
