  3. Look into using a consignment dealer such as Streetside Classics, see URL https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles
  4. Fifty years ago the owner said "No I don't want to sell it I have big plans to restore it someday". How many times I have heard that said by owners of nice collector cars. Thirty years later I have seen many bull dozed back into the woods to further rot. I wonder how many AACA members are in that same ball park? Not just cars but the same goes with part hoarders. Lash
  5. Here's a Miami FL. guy that was a top salesman for one of the premier Porsche dealerships in the country. He took orders for one of the most sought after factory Porsche models and left with the deposits. Maybe it the Florida cool aid that causing the problem. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article235164347.html Lash

  12. As the header states I'm looking for a two door sedan from the early to mid 1960's era. If someone has a car for sale that meets the criteria I posted I would like to here from them. I'm not stuck on one particular make or model. Lash
  13. Very interested in Pontiac's like the 1963-64 Grand Prix, Catalina, 2+2. Oldsmobile's, Buick's, Ford Fairlane's etc. I'm looking for a super nice driver quality, could be older Junior or Senior award recipient. Car that has some mild upgrades but still has the original factory look is acceptable. If you have something you think I would be interested in or know someone that does please send information and pictures. Lash plarowe@morrisbb.net

  16. Thanks West, I'm glad Bonham's was contacted concerning their event and home delivery timing issue. KL
  17. Yes, planning to attend Amelia Island's Concours d Alegance is accomplished month's in advance. I would have to say that the marketing and publicity directors for Bonham's might disagree with your primary reasons they advertise in a national publication. again my 2 cents
  18. Here's the issue, (no pun intended) the magazine was printed on March 12 and arrives the next day at a US Postal Service distribution center also called the Bulk Mail Center the next day. The BMC distributes the bundles nation wide which may take 3-6 days, remember now postage paid is at the periodical rate and not first class. I see where some received their issues on 16 March, I received mine on the 18. The delay that some experienced is not the problem. The problem is looking on page # 32 Bonhams took out a full page advertisement on their auction held the 12-14 March at Amelia Island. Someone at National HQ needs to give this issue attention. My 2 cents
  19. Since the starter does work intermittently then I would suggest checking battery connections, frame ground to battery and make sure the starter to flywheel housing surface is not painted. 12vdc means less current is used verses 6vdc. As Jim suggested if you are still using the larger gauge wires that will reduce current and increase resistance. Also try using a battery jumper, if that works then you do not have enough power to engage the starter. You are on the right track Hope this helps KL
  20. When you go, stop by Toppenish WA. About three miles south of town on Hwy 97 and Jensen Rd. Theres and old gentleman that has a huge collection of old iron and a lot of old trucks. I came across this when working on a project in Toppenish. The old man will show you around and has you sign a guest book at the end of the tour. I was there around 2008, hope he's still there. You can google earth and still see all the vehicles. He is located just south of Jensen Rd. and on the east side of Hwy 97. ps he will not sell anything, he is leaving it to his son.
  21. I had a similar problem with one of my old cars and it had me scratching my head for several days. What I discovered was I had removed the backing plates to clean and repaint and did not notice that the mounting holes on one of the backing plates was elongated. When I re installed the plate it was not centered correctly over the hub. Since the shoes are mounted to the backing plate I could not slide the drum onto the hub. The other side of the car was not a problem so of course I started swapping drums and brake shoes and all would work just on one side but not on the other. My motto has always been "its not a mistake if you find the problem before someone else does" GOOD LUCK
  22. Do not buy this car without you looking it over or at least have a Pre Purchase Inspection done buy AAG (Auto Appraisers Group)or similar company. Having a PPI done lets you know that this car actually exists. The owner should be willing to hold the auto until an inspection is completed. Did you ask for a copy of the title? Like Matt H. said, go check it out yourself or have the PPI done I had AAG inspect a car before purchasing and they were 100% correct in their description.
  23. LED's are not a lamp or bulb like you have in old cars, they are a light emitting diode. So you will not be able to plug them into an existing lamp socket. I think your best bet is to find a led light assembly that can be added to any old car and still use your existing lamp. You can find these advertised in the back of most old car magazines, they work very well and come in either 6v or 12v. Hope this helps. Lash
