  1. Here is a photo of a cowl light. http://forums.aaca.org/f143/few-random-questions-25-touring-307855.html I can take some close ups (disassembled too). These do show up on e-bay fairly often. I'm not sure about the holes- Did you look under the cowl and see if there is any kind of marking or knock out? Since you have a 25 Touring, is there any chance I could get you to measure your top irons and post the results? (see my thread on the subject).
  2. Although I haven't yet performed any R&R on the DB springs, I have replaced them on a few 'modern' cars without the need of a leaf spring spreader. I probably had a helper though.
  3. I found a non-DB club member who took the time to take a bunch of photos and measurements (I would still like more than one sample). Attached are the results in a cleaned up and more/less to scale drawing. The numbers look pretty much the same as GG's numbers from his 24.
  4. Thanks Jason. That does show the forward iron-to-socket joint well. I can't believe I missed it in the MIM....
  5. So it sounds like the sockets are the hollow tubes that accept the top bow 'tenon'.
  6. Here is a revised sketch based on input from GG. I hope some 25, 26 and 27 people will give us some data. I'll even draw these up to scale on Autocad for future reference.
  7. GG, thank you so much. I'm glad you added that one member as I did suspect I might be missing something there (I didn't have any good photos showing that area). Even is is slightly different from 25, at least I know the basic shape and I'll bet there are only minor dimensional changes, if any. Were yours in good original shape? I looked at some yesterday that were in several pieces but were for pre-1920 car. The tapered tubes appear to be of quite thin gauge from new.
  8. Glad to hear it started. It really does look good in red. Would you happen to know the name/code number for it? I'm trying to decide on what color to paint the body... Also, I'm trying to get some good photos and measurements of the top irons. Any chance you could do this? I've got another posting with a sketch showing the dims I need.
  9. That would be useful to know. Where would it be found?
  10. Anyone with a 25 touring car and a tape measure, I would be most grateful for any help in filling in the dimensions (see sketch).
  11. Do DBs have top irons and top sockets? I'm a little confused on this. The irons are the part that is a linkage on each side of the car. Are there separate sockets that go into these and then top bows? Can anyone post a photo of a socket (preferably for a 25).
  12. Hi Jason, If you still have it, would you mind sending me a copy of the 26 top installation?
  13. Not bad. Two sets of points will run you $150...
  14. Will the 1925 printing do? What page do you need?
  15. I'm pretty sure the discs were a popular factory option (starting before 25, I think). I think they look more elegant and remind me of fancier cars that used them at the time. It sounds like the car is complete. How about some photos?
  16. I did call and talk to John. He said he needs a core to rebuild, he doesn't make them from scratch. Sometimes he can sell you a core but unfortunately he did not have a core for this period of DB.
  17. Thanks GG. Feelin' a little spunky there Dave?
  18. I can't find a detailed enough photo to tell, how should the muffler brackets go? Should the muffler top side be even with the bottom of the frame? Also, the tailpipe has a sharp slope on one end (to the radius going over rear axle) and a more gradual slope on the other. I'm not quite sure which end goes to the muffler.
  19. I talked to Gene yesterday and he's fresh out (sold his last set a couple of weeks ago). I also talked to John at John's Enterprises and he normally has a core set to start from (which he doesn't have for the DB). So I'm just going to have to keep looking.
