  1. No rush Jason but when you can get to them, I'd be interested in a few pix.
  2. If you can post a few photos of it I'm sure someone here can ID it.
  3. Very cool Tony! A little diversion here and there is no harm...
  4. An interesting subject for sure. I would imagine the torch heat load will have something to do with the mass of what you're trying to get up to temperature. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to heat this up sufficiently with a typical propane or mapp gas torch (but not a soldering iron). The headlight rings have quite a bit more mass though. I would also like to see what you guys have used successfully. I did do some silver soldering on 1/2 diameter S.S. tubing with an 0.040 (?) wall and had no issues using a plain old propane torch. I'm glad I have a bad ring to practice on though... Oh and thanks for Bob Ore's number BYM.
  5. I'll give Qual Krom a shout since I was planning to plate it. Maybe get the headlight bezels done at the same time. On the other hand, I do have an extra HL bezel that it beyond using but it might be good for practice (they are also brass?). I do have some silver solder that would be worth trying.
  6. Hi John, any possibility of sending some photos of the front fenders? I'll PM my e-mail address.
  7. That is the page I was talking about. I was assuming it was a Budd body but maybe not.
  8. Hmm... sounds like I'll have to read up the two processes.
  9. Hi Ray, unfortunately, these things are quite rare for the 25-26 cars from what I've been able to learn. There is a good photo in the 'Mechanics Instruction Manual' that shows what it looks like installed. If you don't have a copy I can try to scan it in. There happens to be a pair of these on ebay (USA) in the DB section but they will go for more than I'm willing to spend. I've come across similar looking brackets at antique auto flea markets but they don't have the correct location for the post that secures it to the body. I'll probably end up modifying something more commonly available to do the job. It's too bad no one repros these...
  10. Thanks guys. I do have some thin sheet brass squirreled away somewhere (.003 or .005", I think). I've soldered brass before; is brazing different? Is that how you did yours Jason?
  11. I'm wondering what can be done to repair the tail light bezel (from a '25). It appears to be made from brass and as the poor photo shows, has some cracks on the outer ring. Has anyone had any luck repairing cracks like this? The way it fits over the glass and on the light housing there is very little room to reinforce it on the hidden side.
  12. Hi Ray, That's great! Is it restored or needing it? A nice original perhaps? Please post some pictures when you get a chance. Where abouts in CT are you? I'm in Waterford (just west of New London).
  13. Hi Ray, Apparently it is forbidden in California but not in other states. I did a quick search and found this place: Hibernia Auto Restoration and there were some possibly useful comments here: Looking for sources of Nitro-Cellulose Lacquer paint (is it still made?)
  14. Hi Ray, On the DB Club web site. Dodge Brothers Club Then go to the 'Garage' heading and choose 'DB Paint colors' from the drop down menu. Now where did I put my "That was easy" button?
  15. Thanks very much guys. You saved me $60! Has anyone had any luck having the top face on these reground? Mine have wear depressions from the valve stem making it hard to set clearances. I'm guessing these are case hardened and so the hard layer is only so thick. That's a nice diagram Bill; is it from the parts list document? If so, I'll have to invest in one of those...
  16. I'm looking at buying some NOS tappet screws and the seller claims they fit 1924-1960 Dodge flat head motors. The part number is 681544 (see photo). However, the photo of the screw looks different that what I have in my 1925 motor. Mine look just like a regular hex head bolt with the head a little shorter than normal. Can anyone check and see if the above part number is listed for a 1925?
  17. Hi Juan, I see Coolie Blue is listed as an original color for 26-27 touring cars. Was it just weird lighting in that one photo that makes it look purple? How about in person? I like it when it appears blue but purple would not look right... (I'm trying to decide on a color for my '25 touring car and would prefer to use something close to factory colors). Thanks.
  18. I also wish you a speedy recovery Doug.
  19. I spotted this in Hartford, CT Craigslist. No affiliation with seller. dodge parts
  20. I'm in Connecticut so shipping will be the way to go....
  21. There is definitely no shortage of pre-27 DB carburetors or amp gauges on fleabay. If only decent front fenders, top irons, top rests (25), were as common.
  22. eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices must....not....bid....
