  1. Unless Marquette is differnt than the other '30 Buicks, the vin plate should be on the top of the frame right behind the front passenger wheel.
  2. There is a reason why a car without a title sells for a fraction of the same car with a title. The reason is there are still some honest people in the world. If you think I am calling those of you who sell and buy titles dishonest, please take it personally.
  3. emjay, Here's a better tour of the neighborhood! Dwight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP7ui2pTTAc
  4. Just like driving a stick shift, after awhile, the three pedals (plus, the combination clutch/emergency brake, choke/mixture rod, hand throttle and retard/advance hand control) becomes second nature. After a ride with me, a pilot friend of mine said it was more complicated to drive the T than a small plane. I loved having it except, where I live, I began to feel it was dangerous driving uphills and accelerating so slowly. Emergency stops are real exciting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAMm9x4QQE4
  5. Living in PA all my life, I am just amazed at rust free cars.
  6. The Subaru 360 is not mine, but I agree. They are cool!
  7. OK. I said I wasn't an expert. Just stuff I thought I remembered correctly.
  8. I have wondered about using evapo or rescue in a cooling system. Thanks for trying!
  9. When I bought it, my '36 International overheated to where it was undrivable. I flushed out the radiator several times. No effect. I popped out the freeze plugs and spent a day visualizing where all the passages were and snaking a wire around. I got it least 1 qt. of rust and stuff. If I were to do it again, I would come up with a motorized wire bottle brush. From that day forward, the truck never went above 150 even when the outside temperature topped 100!
  10. I am neither and MG nor a Datsun expert. I heard the story from my brother-in-law who had MGB's. I do know that Austin and Datsun had a close relationship in the 60's. Austin licensed Datsun to build and use the J-series engines from the MGA and MGB although I don't think they used the J-series engine in the 1600. Many of the Datsun engine parts are interchangeable with MGB's including the heads.
  11. Under than thinly veiled disguise is an MGB.
  12. Headlights look a little low to me for a Winton. How about a 1906 model F Buick? Note the flared out almost right angle front fenders.
  13. In case of a national threat, my guess would be either scrambled GPS signals or a constantly chanaging pattern of signals. Imagine a computer based enigma machine. Just my thoughts. I don't have any inside information.
  14. I admit my (almost) total lack of knowledge about this. But, what happens when the first child runs out in front of one and is killed? There are probably some applications where this would be marginally appropriate. Trains for example. The public has come to accept that if you step out in front of a train, it is your fault. However, the same logic does not apply to a Prius or a UPS delivery truck.
  15. The hobby is definitely changing. I am facinated by the recent interest (and rise in value) of "original," "unmolested" cars. To me, they look like cars that need to be restored. (When I restored cars, I didn't think I was molesting them!)
  16. I am sorry for your loss Nathan. Thank you for sharing your father's beautiful restoration with us.
  17. Excellent!!!!! I am so glad you didn't listen to me! Let that be a lesson to the rest of you. Dwight
  18. I a very simple, non-technical reason sold me on synthetics. You cannot use them in Model T's because they are too slippery. Model T transmission bands are bathed constantly in engine oil and they will not grab on the transmission drums with synthetic oil. There is not enough friction. They just slip.
  19. Welcome! Beautiful cars! As you may have guessed, we do not have a FAQ section. The search function is available for all the forums at once for each separately. Don't worry about redundant questions. Most of us are too old to remember anyway! Dwight
  20. There is a reason it looks like a DKW. In the early years, the Japanese copied EVERYTHING! They copied the DKW right down to the smokey 2 cycle motor.
  21. Since I never spray painted before, I decided to paint something small for my first attempt.
  22. If you buy a title for it you could build another darrin!
