  1. Hi All, I need some friendly advice. I would like to paint a 1922 Buick speedster I am building the color of the car in the picture. Low budget single stage paint. I will shoot it. Without trying to sound obsessive compulsive, I would like to paint it this exact color. I have looked at online color charts until they are showing up in my dreams! What is the best way to determine this color? Thanks, Dwight
  2. I just picked it up again after sitting for years. I am trying to make progress on it and the '22 speedster at the same time. When I get frustrated with one or have to wait for supplies, I move over to the other. What cars do you have now and which one does your wife like to go in for ice cream?
  3. I love the maroon color! It is what I wish I had painted my '30
  4. Thanks for the interest. Yes. As my Grandfather would say, "It worked wonderful good!" It was in the bath 24 hours. I used my manual battery charger set for 12 volts at 2 amps. I did not wire brush or sand anything afterward. I just wiped the black residue (magnetite) off with shop rags. I sprayed it inside and out with WD-40 to prevent flash rust.
  5. (Last pic) Mounted to workbench . Ready to lap valves! Thanks for looking! Dwight
  6. Hi All, I decided to give electrolysis a try to remove rust from the 1922 Buick head. The four exhaust valves were completely rusted solid. Electrolysis has been described many times in the forum, but this is my first try. (first three pics)
  7. Gary, Déjà vu all over again! Great to see you still have the fever! Dwight
  8. Thanks Larry and James. Something that adds weight to the engine swap idea is that it has the sprocket on the left front wheel for the speedometer ('22), but the speedometer is hooked up to the transmission ('23). Thanks Again. Dwight
  9. Congratulations!!! A well thought out solution.
  10. Mark, Thanks for the clear photos. I might just have enough courage to give mine a try! Thanks, Dwight
  11. Thanks Larry I might take you up on that in the future i removed the rocker arms and all the head bolts today i was concerned about the head bolts but they all came out like they were taken out last week! The head is loose, but I am going to borrow my neighbors engine host to lift it off.
  12. Larry So glad you bought the 25 we worked on! i love that car! Turns out 4 valves are stuck i guess I should not be surprised if I sat in the same position for 75 years I would not move either Off with its head!!!!! Thanks everyone for your guidance Dwight
