  1. I'm also in Victoria, in Gordon Head, where abouts are you?
  2. Thanks for the info guys!
  3. Does anybody make new quarter panels for a 65 Riv? Thanks

    It's sad!!

I have many different cars so I'm on many different forums, this one is a little quiet, not nearly so much as the Triumph guys, hardly ever a peep out of them, and the Mopar guys never shut up
  5. That's classic, I hope you kept the packaging as back up to your story :D
  6. Do any of you have a picture of what those clips look like? I would imagine there's some kind of clip you could buy and modify, that's my plan but it would help seeing what the original looks like.
  7. Any chance they have the clips that hold the horse shoe trim on a 64 Riv?
  8. That really is a nice looking car, I could see one of those in my future
  9. $200,000 to restore a car certainly isn't unheard of, spending it on a mid 60's Riv is. If you pay someone to do the work and it's a complete frame off nut and bolt deal, you'll be into it for over 1000 hours so you're already half way home and that's without materials, machine work, upholstery, chrome, etc. I can't imagine the previous owner was expecting to get anywhere near his money back, but then again being a senior member of the more money than brains club, maybe he was
  10. Just loved the look of the 63-65's in particular from day one. I had a 63 back in the 80's that I sold and I wanted another one ever since. You very rarely see them for sale where I am and as luck would have it about a year ago a 64 came up at the same time my wife was out of town

    ROA???

Thanks, I read something about that but didn't put 2 and 2 together. Very top secret squirrel organization they run there
  12. Do you have a link to info on that meet? I'm not all that far away and might want to take it in next year.

    ROA???

I joined, paid the dues, went to register, that bombed and now I can't find it to try again. Most sites have "register" staring you right in the face

    ROA???

What's the deal on this, diess the link below have anything to do with this forum? I try to go on there but it doesn't recognize my password, when I try to register it says my e-mail is already in use? http://www.rivowners.org/assoc.html
  15. Thanks RivNut, I will check out the swap article although I think you have effectively talked me out of that option Just thought I'd ask since I had the 455 just sitting there. You're probably right Tim, tear it down and re-ring may be all it takes. It's smoking out the breather, I had the heads done but it still smokes so that pretty much leaves rings. You can really smell it bad when you drive so that's the worst part about it really, runs just fine otherwise, especially after the head work. I just didn't want to get into a full rebuild with machine work costs being crazy where I am.
  16. Thanks John, I kind of expected that, now that I think of it, there will be exhaust issues as well and so on. Just didn't feel like shelling out the bucks to rebuild the nailhead.
  17. I have a TH400 in my 64 Riv, the motor could use a rebuild, I have a 455 out of a 70's Buick that runs like a top. Anyone know if the TH400 would bolt straight up to the 455 if I decided to do the motor swap? If not I could always use the trans from the 455 car I guess.
  18. Thanks for the reply Jim, not sure what the odds of getting used ones are. The guy I bought the car from took one side off to get it ready for paint and said all the clips broke when he did. He didn't paint it either. I'll give them a call though, thanks!
  19. I've been going on their site for quite some time myself waiting for that Riv catalog, sure is taking a long while Anybody know where you can get clips for the "horseshoe" side trim for a 64 Riv?
  20. 64R

    5 hours delay

Wow, what a pain that must have been, the blown tire would have been bad enough
  21. Sorry to say, my nailhead smokes, my Chev doesn't (only the tires)

    Ignorant people

In my humble opinion the only thing that really matters is what you, and more importantly, your wife thinks of the car. It sounds like she loves it and enjoys it and that's what really counts, not what some snob had to say. It's unfortunate that he upset her particularly on her birthday but that's a reflection on his lack of class and nothing else. I hope you can convince her of that so she can get out there and enjoy her car and continue working on it. Car shows and cruises are about enjoying your car and making some friends, the make, year and condition of your car doesn't matter.
  23. Congrats. Just had our 25th on Tuesday, still putting up with me and my car obsession somehow.

  25. I have a 64 Riv, when I got it one side of the "horseshoe" trim had been removed, I haven't been able to find the clips needed to put them back on. Has anybody here found a source for those? Thanks
