Guest BritishCarNut
Anyone know what this is? That is my grandfather driving, and he was born in 1890, so I'm guessing this is he as a teenager, which makes this about 1906-8? He grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, so that's likely where this picture was taken.
keiser31
The hood shape and trap door on top of the hood remind me of a big REO.
1937hd45
Looks like a 1908 Maxwell Model M. The sausage smoke bonnet headlamps are one clue. ..........FORGET that! Just looked at the radiator again, that rules out Maxwell and REO as well, could be a Buick.
Clincher
Appears to be a 1908-1909 two-cylinder REO.

CarlLaFong
Has anyone noticed that a large pecentage of unknown cars posted here turn out to be REOs or Maxwells?
keiser31
That is because they were good cars and popular with the rutted roads. They were as sturdy as the REO (Ransom E. Olds) trucks.
Guest BritishCarNut
Thanks a lot for the id! The little girl in the photo, my great aunt, kept that same license plate number her entire life until she passed away in her 90's. Her last car was a Ford Escort, bit of a comedown. I just checked the latest auctions for a similar REO's and one went at Pebble Beach for $275,000. I did find the ad shown above on Ebay though - it's a bit more in my price range. Thanks again! Layden B
It was not the full size REO car that was the value in that auction but the unique half size original promotional REO factory model.
