Stone guards-add or detract from appearance

Rick is exactly right. It would destroy the aesthetics of that V'ed grille unless the stone guard was also V'ed. I think that was a real protection when the radiator was out front unprotected and not behind a grille.

But thanks for the extra pictures anyways <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I wouldn't put one on there unless it was Vee'd. The chrome is original on the grill so it's not bright and sparkly like new chrome, but it is in good shape for 73 years. My thoughts were to add a little pizzaz with a nice chromed v guard yet keep the original chrome of the grille intact.

I guess you all want the chrome grill exposed which is fine by me.

You seem to have purchased a car of quality.

Installing a stone guard would be a vulgar thing to do.

The correct stone guard is V-shaped, but I agree with everyone here, it doesn't need it. Too many people add too much glitz to Packards (and other luxury cars) and they simply don't need it. IMHO, driving lights and spotlights are also gilding the lilly, as are chrome wheels... especially on a sporty car like yours.
