1985 Buick El Camino

I saw a web site a few months ago (I can't find it now) where somebody put a Buick Grand National turbo engine assy. and nose on an El Camino. I have an 85 El Camino that I would like to convert to a Buick El Camino. I really don't want to do exactly the same thing, but I thought it sould be fun to have a Buick El Camino to tow my 15 Buick Speedster. I am just looking for a Buick nose piece (CENTURY, CENTURY CUSTOM, CENTURY LIMITED, CENTURY T-TYPE, REGAL) that should just bolt onto the GM "A body" of the El Camino.

Can anybody help with parts or advice?

More info from the builder's/owner's site:

Name is Duane Heckman. I've no idea if he still has the car, but I can't imagine it being scrapped.

I bought a damaged 1980 Olds Cutlass a few years back. The car needed a front clip and I couldn't find one locally but did find a '79 Buick Regal front so I married that to the Cutlass, came out pretty good and I still see it occasionlly around the area.Just remember two doors and four doors won't interchange. Just thought that might help, Buford 8.

No. sorry I don't know of any info on what header panel will fit. You might get in trouble with the core support because the header panel bolts up to it as well as the fenders. You might be able to fabricate brackets to attach header to Chevy core support. Good luck, Buford 8...........

I knew a guy that put a Firebird front on an El Camino and had a

Firemino. Problem was the front fenders had to sectioned to fit the

higher El Camino doors.

Same guy put a Mazda Station Wagon body on a Bronco chassis and had a

Brazda.

The 78-87 El Camino was the front half of a Malibu, so what was the Buick version of the Malibu?

Good Luck

Mark, I have a 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type with the forward-tilt hood for sale.

$800 come get it!

Good sheet metal all-around, runs & drives. Silver w/black velour interior.

Bought it as a parts car, since it has my engine/drivetrain setup, then got a few more Reattae, and don't need it's parts now.

send me a PM if interested.

I only want to replace the nose piece in front of the hood; not the whole front clip. Do you know of any interchange manual that may show what will bolt up?

Thanks,

Hello, if the cameno is built with the monty carlo front fenders, it shouldnt be that hard too make it work. The fenders on the regal are so close to the monty fenders, I dont see it being a big deal. You might have too use the core support and hood from the regal. I am only guessing, but I have some race car freinds and they interchange the fenders all of the time.

Thanks, Scott

Here is a 'bare bones' 66 'Buickamino' that I transformed into a convertible after several years of 'trucking it'. grin.gif
