jaxops
I traded my 69 LeSabre convertible for the 70 Electra convertible in 1978, and I have had it ever since, taking it around the country with me as we were transferred with the Navy. We received the 56 Cadillac limousine from my Dad when his lost his garage space 2 years ago. It has mostly been in the restoration shop but we did get it out beforehand a few times. The 2 newer Fords: We bought the 89 Crown Victoria Station Wagon new from a dealer on Essington Ave in Philadelphia SEP 1988. After 250,000 miles, my daughter now drives it to school every day.The 90 Mercury Grand Marquis I bought from a dealer's lot in Jenkintown, PA in 1996, and sold my 87 Crown Victoria GS sedan in Washington, DC. I drive the 90 Mercury to work every day.
wolffe53
I see something in common with ShopRat and 41Merc. My father bought his 1953 Willys Aero sedan new, as a family car. I still have it. The engine is original, but I'm not sure about everything else under the hood. The inside of the car smells the same as it did when I was a child--not a bad smell, just the smell of my life.Help me figure out what to do with this thing. See the "What should I do with my car?" thread.
6219_Rules
Well I do not have a Classic (anymore) and all the cars I DO own, I have had for 4 years or less.Unfortunately our family tended to replace cars every 4 or 5 years, or as necessary. The only one we had that I could count would be the 1960 VW Dad bought while we were in Europe in 1961. He picked it up for $800 and we drove it all over Europe and the UK. Then we shipped it back to the US on the USS Rotterdam along with us as we traveled home. We had the little black VW until 1976 when it was sold because the body and frame had rotted out. The car still looked good and ran beautifully. It had well over 300,000 miles on it although the odometer quit now and them.My current 1977 Eldorado, now owned for 2.5 years, is planned to stay with me as long as I am around barring drunk drivers etc.. But the 1956 Cadillac sedan is my dream car and is still in the garage waiting on restoration. I've had her since last year, July 19th.But who knows. ThomasBorchers
Hello !My father has two cars which he owns for more than 40 years. It is a 1960 Borgward Isabella Coupe which he bought as it was 6 months old. Actually he should invest the money in his young company but he wanted this car. A year later he bought a 1949 Mercedes 170 S with rust holes in the doors. He restored this car and we have it still. The Borgward is in original, unrestored good condition. 6219_Rules
Yes me too. My family has done that since getting our 1960 VW in Hamburg in 1961 which we named the Little Man. Their previous cars also had names I was not privy to.Mine currently are Tiffany (the '77 Eldo) and George (the 81 Chevy truck) named for Lenny's friend in John Steinbeck' "Of Mice and Men". Silly perhaps but fun. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Guest Debby Soucia
We have had "Nellie" since 1999. She is a Chrysler 300 convertable named right after we got her as her motor was not right and we would say" Come on Nellie run". Now we just got "Walter" a 1938 Chrysler Royal from a auction in 2004 and I named him that after Walter Percy Chrysler. Our friend has their 1937 Chrysler Royal named "Percy". Walter is Percy's younger bother!! LOL.

Barry Wolk
I've owned my 1956 Continental Mark II convertible for about three years. I'm actually an art collector and bought it as rolling sculpture. Friends encouraged us to show it on the Concours d'Elegance circuit and that move has created a whole new social life for us.We've been in 14 shows and taken 14 trophies.Barryweb site http://members.cardomain.com/barry2952
