29 Chandler
A friend sent this picture to me. Taken in Hawaii, c. 1927. I think it is a 1926 Model 80. What do you all think?
1937hd45
GREAT photo! I like the Californa top on the Pierce, sure would be nice to know about the plane.
R W Burgess
I used my ruler, Bob. The plane won't fit in your back yard. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne
29 Chandler
Here's the info I have on the plane from my friend. "The airplane in the photo is a Douglas DT-2, one of nine such torpedo planes attached to Pearl Harbor NAS in 1926."
Dave@Moon
I agree, Chris. It's probably a Model 80 touring. It could be either a '25 or '26, though. I don't think there were any changes from the mid-'24 introduction until the '27 model.
1913Moline
I agree that this is a Series 80. Pierce built two different 80 Series touring bodies. I believe that this is the 7 passenger touring. These had a fixed position top. The five passenger touring had a folding top and had the same cowl and front doors as the runabouts(roadsters). I learned these details the hard way (buying a 7P touring cowl thinking it would work on a roadster).Greg
