TerryB
Looks like a part on the end of a driveshaft that goes in the back of a transmission.
arcticbuicks
i wonder about that......how would splines go though a seal
joe_padavano
More likely it's the center sliding spline for a two-piece driveshaft with a center bearing. My 1962 Olds F85 has a similar center yoke. The center bearing is pressed over the female mating part that is built into the front part of the driveshaft.

roysboystoys
Could be a front axle yoke for 4 wheel drive ?
arcticbuicks
i was thinking that also 4x4......but any i have seen have a seal area........i also think maybe a split driveshaft ......and maybe the section it slides into has a nut collar that you slide onto this first......then stretch felt or rubber seal over........then slide the splines together .......and install nut with seal and tighten
