75 brake drum hole

Recommended Posts

The door is used to adjust the shoes after relining. As John said. The 75 manual discusses the proper adjustment. It’s easy. These two photos might help. The door is centered over the four 9/16 nuts. Then tightened as a helper applies pressure. IMG_3980.jpeg.93c7fbb1ebef9d64398e5179898cc44a.jpeg

Having disassembled three Series 75, I have the understanding that they came both with the strange demountable brake shoes and with the ones cast in one piece (now I know what those four bolts are for). Same goes for drums with or without the access holes, do not believe that they are on all S75 drums (but I will have closer look now).

Some drums have the brake shoe adjusting slot on the edge of the drum. It is for inserting a feeler gauge to adjust the shoes.
