Occasional low oil level warning - 1990 Reatta

My 1990 Reatta IPC occasionally displays a "low oil level" warning even though the oil level on the dipstick is correct and oil pressure display is normal. Shut down and restart and the warning usually (but not always) goes away. Would this be a bad oil level sensor in the pan?

You could try disconnecting the sensor to see if the warning goes away.  (That assumes the sensor is normally open.)  Before reconnecting, check the sensor with an Ohm meter.  Check it again when the warning is off.  Chances are it's a bad sensor.

The low oil sensor is located on the side of the oil pan.

It is an ON - OFF switch and it opens with low oil level.

I would start by unplugging the connector and cleaning the contacts with WD-40 ....

plug it back in and see it that helps,

If it still acts up....... try jumping the contacts and if the issue goes away I would say the sensor is defective and

you probably must pull the pan to replace it.

I though I sent this yesterday...... must have been distracted and never hit send
