1959 Edsel Corsair Convertible, Soooo Rare, one of only 1340 built, said to be only 100 exist, V8, 361 ,PS, standard brakes , Aftermarket air, blows, but needs service, power top, no other power accessories, matching interior , Coker ww tires, Fender skirts factory Continental Kit, excellent Chrome, stainless, beautiful straight body, some bubbling in lacquer paint down on drivers side before skirt,Said to be orginal 77K miles Drives like it, tight. Value on Edsel is now exceeding $66k to $ 100 K , I am willing to sell my rare Edsel for $ 40K or close best offer, Here are the issues:
Transmission leak, if your driver the car it stops, when parked, leaks. The sad story , Replaced the Power top motor
and hoses and fittings, Went to put the top up and the Swing arm broke Top has not been down since, Won 2
best of shows with the car, I get chased down where ever I go , I am will to negotate a fair price to fix the top
back then they used pot metal, so a new piece may have to be fabricated.

With the amount of work required to correct the listed deficiencies, $20 to $25k is a much more reasonable asking price for this example, provided a closer inspection finds no other serious problems.

Additionally, the interior has been redone deleting the large square sewn design on the seat vinyl that is present on the door panels.

I am not doubting, just wondering. I have not seen one of these for sale in years, so I’m wondering how Hagerty noticed the demand dropped?

Beautiful car, the color really sets this car off in my opinion. I am not an authority on Edsels, but I would think that the low production number, fact that it is a convertible and the color would help the sale of this car. Not a big fan of continental kits, but that can be fixed.

This is a beautiful looking Edsel.  Edsel Ford was a good man and very different from his father I read about him and found out a lot of the good traits he had.  Henry made sure to take the credit for all the good things Edsel did for the company. Anyway, this car may be rare however rare does not mean a high priced collectible.  In most cases a rare car = hard to find and expensive parts.

He won’t say it, but he broke the top linkage because he forced it.  That’s how they always break, usually someone who thinks that they can “Just push the top down” you can’t unless you disconnect the hydraulic system.   People don’t-things break.  
 

He now has an expensive repair (yeah, you find that part) and a convertible that can’t convert. 
Sorry guy, huge price difference

Yes, but sellers don't care.  Pay their price or keep looking.
