58L-Y8
For Sale: 1930 Avon Standard Special - $52,000 - Edmonds, WA 1930 Avon Standard Special - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle... (craigslist.org) Seller's Description: Testing the waters on selling my very Rare 1930 Avon. This car has a really interesting history and would be a great candidate for Pebble Beach Concours. I purchased this car several years ago from a collector in Santa Barbara. The car needed extensive work to the insides and the parts of the chassis. The car was designed by the Jensen Brothers when they worked for Avon coach builders. The Chassis is from the Standard Motor Company and the Body was a custom build from Avon. It has a wonderful original patina. This car was part of the Harrah's Casino car collection for over 40 years. It was purchased after Bill Harrah passed away. There are very few of these cars in existence with this originality. I only know of 6 still around and not many are running. I've posted this as the weather is getting better and I believe it would be great for someone to have for the summer to enjoy. If we dont get a lot of interested we will be listing on Bring a Trailer next. TAKerry
Great looking car, I would have to do a bit of research before I plunked down that kinda of cash on someone elses provenance.
63RedBrier
I doubt the seller would get much interest on CL at that price point! Go right to BAT with no reserve and see what it is really worth! I like it! Low slung, dark green (my favorite color!) I seriously doubt it would make the field at PB without being perfect, but that's not my decision to make...
Leif in Calif
Wonderful British contradictory name: Standard Special. Which is it? Others are correct that actual history will make a huge difference, but it is a very pretty car. Cars of this type (with period provenance) have a big following in the UK. If you are ever over there, take in a VSCC event, they get an amazing turnout of cars like this.
