58L-Y8
For Sale: 1928 Auburn Model 76 4dr Sedan - VERY rare car - $24,000 - Franklin 1928 Auburn Model 76 Sedan (VERY rare car) - cars & trucks - by... (craigslist.org) Seller's Description: Please look at this senior-owned 1928 Auburn Model 76 Sedan that has been owned by the current family since nearly new and now presents for sale. The owner is a long-standing member of the Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg Club and also owns a 1936 Cord 810 West Chester Sedan that is also currently for sale. This is a LARGE long-wheelbase sedan. Larger than a similar aged Model A for example. The Auburn is a yellow car with black trim that has been faithfully restored years ago. The vinyl roof is intact with no leaks. There are 2 or 3 small areas where the paint has cracked and may need attention at some point, but there is no profound rust on this otherwise solid car. The car still has its original rare owner's manual. The mohair-style interior and woodgrain are in exceptional condition for its vintage. All the gauges work as they should. Odometer indicates a genuine 26k miles believed to be correct/original.The headliner is intact with no "mouse hole" in the top as seen in many cars from this period. At some point, the fuel tank was properly cleaned and sealed. This is of course a 6-volt system and has not been altered. The wood-spoke wheels are in good condition with no signs of cracks or damage. The tires are outdated and 2 of them have slow leaks pursuant to age and should be replaced at some point. They are fine for local test-drives etc. There are a few Auburn-tools that go with the car, an aging car cover that goes with the car and a few promotional peripherals that the family has collected over time.At last word, there were only 2 others known to have survived and only 1 of those was a match to this rarer long-wheelbase example.Apart from the paint issues and tires mentioned, the windshield has a small corner missing. It does not interfere with the driver's viewing area and is under the front visor aspect so it's not easily discernable and doesn't let any adverse weather in. It's flat glass, so it can be replaced easily if desired. The owner's health is regrettably in decline and the family has decided to offer the car for sale in advance of any big-block auction venues. No trades please as this is part of a downsizing effort. The car is located in the Franklin, TN area. Please contact Chris for inspection/purchase: Asking $24k or near-offer in the spirit of a sale. John_S_in_Penna
The seller states, "This is a LARGE long-wheelbase sedan. Larger than a similar aged Model A for example." Since he's in the A.C.D. Club, is he referring to a Duesenberg Model A or a Ford Model A? I'm sure there's quite a difference!
classiclines
FYI --- Chris is representing the family. The actual owner was active in the Club, not Chris. Chris created the ads for this Auburn and the Cord for the family based only on what he knows about the cars (or has been told) - but does not own these types of cars himself. [I've exchanged e-mails with him already - he doesn't have in-depth knowledge of these cars - but he does know people in the club he can call to ask questions.]
classiclines
FYI --- Same Chris represents the elderly owners of all these cars... https://staugustine.craigslist.org/cto/d/franklin-senior-antique-cars-trucks-for/7555721731.html The older Forum post of the previous Craigslist post by Chris is provided below for reference only...
