TheModelTSpeedsterProject
I'm looking for the year/make of any car that had a starter/generator on it - the kind that are belt drive and always turning. I had one on a SS tractor and I don't think one of those would be big enough to turn over the engine I want to put one on. In my search I found something that said this was used on some cars ? in the 50's ? - I can't remember or find what I read now.... Anyone know? Max4Me
I recently looked at a 1922 Dodge Brothers touring car that uses one. I was told (on this forum) that a 26 Dodge and 1923 Buick used that set up. I was also told that many cars in the 20's and 30's used them. An internet search may prove helpful for other options. Best of luck!
RAH
Model T Speedster, you did not mention what the ultimate application would be for. Believe it or not the North East Electric company did make a unit available for model T Fords early on. See attachments. Good Luck finding one today though. nearchoclatetown
I doubt you will get a starter/generator to work very well with a belt. Most were chain driven.
hidden_hunter
I'm also not sure how available they would be either, I don't think I've ever seen the Cadillac unit up for sale that was in use for about 10 years The Cadillac unit would also be a pain to adapt
8E45E
I believe the BMW 700 had what they called a "Dynastart" combination starter-generator. Craig
Mark Gregush
There should be lots of the Dodge Brothers units out there and they are 12 volts to boot.
