buick looks fine for 39
Good evening gentlemen, I'm looking for an excellent contact cement for gluing a replacement rubber mat on to my stream board metal backing plates. Ideally it should set up fairly fast but give me time to manipulate the rubber for the best fit. Also I want to reproduce a few rubber parts. At one time; about 30-40 years ago; Devcon had a line of moldable rubber which could be used to create needed replacement parts. Does anybody have suggestions for a liquid rubber which hardens with a catalyst after being poured in a mold? Thanks Leif
EmTee
I'd look at flooring adhesive such as that used for vinyl tiles. As far as liquid rubber is concerned, there's this:

buick looks fine for 39
Thanks guys, for what it's worth I tried flex seal and once cured the rubber is too brittle. Thank you Mark for your suggestion and I'm going to use 3M contact cement. Leifer
61polara
Contact cement is the correct choice. The 3M weather strip adhesive is another choice as it is a type of contact cement.
Marty Roth
Per Dave's comment, I've also used 3-M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive- seems to work well, but try hard not to get it on your fingers or under your fingernails (ask me how I know).
