Ricochet
I have this antique hood ornament, and was wondering what car this might have been used on. I picked this up about 20 years ago for just a few dollars. Now condensing things getting ready to move, and I am came across it after forgetting all about it. Thank you for any information about this hood ornament.
hursst
This is probably generic and does not apply to any particular car, but could fit on just about any car. Any Motometer or similar type piece is worth a decent amount of money.

TerryB
How about a picture of the opposite side? Might have a car name on it. You could buy that device with the make of car printed on it.

TerryB
Nice! I never saw one marked MG so I think it’s a reproduction MotoMeter in a possibly original base.

Ricochet
Terry, I think you are right about the motometer. But the base is definitely very old, and after looking it over carefully I am pretty sure it is original.

Yes, definitely a repro badge inside. Moss Motors is a reproduction parts distributor for early MGs.
Layden B
Motometer is modern reproduction. Dogbone appears to be 1920s original. The threads to the radiator neck would determine what car it fits. When you purchased one of these mail order you told them what car you had and they knew what threads it was and thus what to send. There were many many different threads due to different car and radiator manufacturers and models thereof.
