32Pontiac6
Some people, in the past, have registered their car with the engine number. I don't like that because if you ever have to change the engine you have a problem. The number that Kornkurt illustrates is, in my opinion, the best number to use for a VIN. I had a '30 Pontiac that had the engine number as the VIN and I was able to change it to the number on the frame. Beautiful and rare car there.
JIM STOTESBERY
I just bought a 34 Pontiac 4dr. sedan, with 9000 original miles . It does not need much work, just cleaning . Question: Do you know what the original engine color is ? Duplicolor DE1618, is Detroit Diesel or Alpin Green ! JIM stotesjjp@tds.net
Bloo
At 9000 miles I think it more likely you could educate the rest of us. I doubt Alpine Green matches anything Pontiac, but I don't know for sure. It would be nice if it did, because Duplicolor engine paint is great stuff. Welcome to the forum! 95Cardinal
What a great car! In addition to the stamped tag on the frame, the vehicle number is stamped on top of the frame, on the left frame rail above the front axle.
