You are viewing a "Rare" 1951 Oldsmobile 98 Deluxe 4-door Sedan. This three owner 98 was built and sold in Kansas City, Missouri. Spending the first 25 years of it's existence it was owned by a gentleman farmer who only used the car on weekends and traveling. After the gentleman farmer passed away in the early 1970's the 98 still very original with only 24,000 miles on it was passed down to his son who lived here in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 98 sat in his garage till 1976 when a well respected longtime National Oldsmobile Club member who is known for his high quality early 50's Oldsmobile' s bought the 98. At this time he decided to restore the 98 to a high quality show standard restoration changing only one thing, the Olds was originally Dove Gray with the top being Flint Gray. He decided to have the 98 painted Otsego Blue with the top being Serge Blue which is a much more original stunning color combination!!
The Olds at this time was also gone over mechanically from bumper to bumper sparing no expenses. After the 98 was restored the second owner enjoyed driving and showing the car, winning top major awards at national and regional shows. I first seen the 98 back in 1979 where I became very fond of it. At this time I also became very acquainted with the second owner and after 37 years of enjoying the 98 he decides to sell this well preserved mostly original Olds. At this time the 37 year old restoration with now 71,000 miles on it is showing minimal cosmetic wear, the chrome and stainless steel trim still looks like new. The seats, headliner, steering wheel, dashboard and window trim is still in outstanding original condition. The carpet which was replaced years ago along with the door panels which were professionally restored has held up very well as you can see in the photos!!

Since I've owned the car it's been mechanically kept up, Since I've owned the car I've done the following, complete tune up, rebuilt carb, flushed coolant, check the front end, exhaust, brakes, shocks and rear end. I've also installed four brand new P235/75R/15 Diamond Back Classic Wide Whitewall Radials. Also shown on the 98 is the period correct Oldsmobile factory simulated spoke wheel covers. This 69 year old Oldsmobile runs and rides just like the day it was built. The Olds is also equipped with a host of factory options including Deluxe interior trim, heater, super deluxe signal seeking radio, clock, back up lights, two-tone paint, whitewall tires, dual side view mirrors, day nite rear view mirror, deluxe full wheel covers, full carpet and side window shades. Buyer is fully responsible for all shipping cost for this vehicle.

That IS a beautiful car. It was bid to $10,400 on Ebay a month ago but didn't meet reserve. With such an eloquent write-up and no price posted I'm sure the owner is looking for much more than that. However I question how "Rare" the car really is when there were 78,122 of those produced. If it sells though someone will be getting an outstanding Oldsmobile.
