Looking for Help Identifying My 1951 Ford Lights!

Mustang9284

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I came across these two NOS fender lights that were marked "Ford 1951" with a piece of tape and was handwritten. They are stamped 5284 R.H. underneath. I cannot find the model these go on.

My questions are: What year and model are these from? Are these a complete set? Were they factory or aftermarket accessory pieces? Do these go on the trunk or the hood? How much are these worth?

I've asked a few antique car guys I know and they have no idea what these are from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When the Cadillac tailfin taillights became all the rage in those years, aftermarket companies jumped in with versions designed to fit on the fender profile with minimum holes to drill and mount, wired in with the regular taillights.  Years ago used to encounter mildly customized cars in junkyards of all makes with those 'fancy' Cadillac-style taillights.

I have seen other old aftermarket styles made for 49-50 Fords, and was told that a lot of people did not care for the factory bland look or lack of fins when new.

Ford knew it lacked style because in 51 they added a more showy taillight lens and the long stainless side trim near the lights
