Mustang9284
Hello everyone, I came across these two NOS fender lights that were marked "Ford 1951" with a piece of tape and was handwritten. They are stamped 5284 R.H. underneath. I cannot find the model these go on. My questions are: What year and model are these from? Are these a complete set? Were they factory or aftermarket accessory pieces? Do these go on the trunk or the hood? How much are these worth? I've asked a few antique car guys I know and they have no idea what these are from. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
keiser31
Not 1951 Ford as far as I can tell. Look inside for any markings or part numbers.

58L-Y8
When the Cadillac tailfin taillights became all the rage in those years, aftermarket companies jumped in with versions designed to fit on the fender profile with minimum holes to drill and mount, wired in with the regular taillights. Years ago used to encounter mildly customized cars in junkyards of all makes with those 'fancy' Cadillac-style taillights.
dustycrusty
I think you have 1950-'51 Pontiac rear running light housings Edited May 5, 2020 by dustycrusty (see edit history)
Mustang9284
Those definitely look like the closest I've seen so far. The only difference is the curve at the end on mine are not the same. The red lens looks very similar. Maybe aftermarket?
Mustang9284
I think you may be right. I can't find any factory car these came off of. My buddy who has a very large classic car collection that they may be aftermarket as well.

F&J
I have seen other old aftermarket styles made for 49-50 Fords, and was told that a lot of people did not care for the factory bland look or lack of fins when new. Ford knew it lacked style because in 51 they added a more showy taillight lens and the long stainless side trim near the lights
mercman from oz
You have already got the answer to your question, this is what the Tail Lights look like on a 1951 Ford.
