Mpgp1999
I have a 1926 dodge. I am looking for an auto repair shop for my car. I need a brake job and some odds and ends. Many places don’t know what mechanical brakes are let alone how to repair them. If anyone has a trusted shop that knows how to repair these pre war cars please let me know. I am located in Sonoma California.
John_S_in_Penna
Is there an AACA region near you? AACA isn't big on the West Coast, but they do have 21 regions scattered around California, so it's worth checking. An officer or member of that region could be a big help in giving references. Here's the list of regions: http://www.aaca.org/Community/regions-a-chapters.html I'm in Pennsylvania, so the answer above is the best I can do. It also brings your topic back to the top for others to see!
edinmass
Be sure the shop you pick has an owner that owns pre war cars, not a 69 Chevy. That said, restoration shops are not always your best choice, as restoration and drivability are two different things. I agree, ask local members. Remember, service is expensive, and the value of your car can be quickly exceeded. Nothing wrong with that, just be ready to spend money. It’s not like a modern car where a brake job is 150 per axel. A correct brake job on a 100 year old car is extensive.......,and thus expensive. Edited April 12, 2020 by edinmass (see edit history)
